LG's next smartwatch could be called the LG Watch Libre, suggests trademark
LG Watch Style from 2017

Previously, the existence of two upcoming LG smartwatches was confirmed by separate FCC listings, although no concrete news in regards to their official branding has appeared. Thanks to a new trademark, however, at least one of the names may have just been revealed.

Just a few weeks back, on June 12, LG was granted a new trademark in South Korea that related to the use of the name “Libre” on smartwatches. This word actually means freedom in Spanish, suggesting it could be used on the upcoming sports variant that has previously been rumored. After all, the sportier model, which currently goes by the LM-W319 model number, would give users the freedom to go wherever they wish without the need to worry thanks to a more durable construction. Moreover, in addition to the rugged build, the sports variant could also offer LTE support, giving users even more freedom to move around.

At this point in time, LG’s reasoning behind the “Libre” name is simply speculation but, just like all previous wearables from the South Korean company, the new moniker is expected to come accompanied by “Watch,” suggesting the brand’s next product could be called LG Watch Libre.

Ultimately, it’s still unclear when the LG Watch Libre will be officially announced. But considering its hybrid sibling, which could be called the LG Watch Timepiece, has also received its FCC certification, it wouldn’t be surprising to see an official announcement take place sometime next month with sales commencing shortly after.
