LG admits lying to South Korean customers about Xenon flash on LG Optimus 2X

0. phoneArena posted on 05 Apr 2012, 11:37

Did LG executives wake up with a long nose or pimples on their tongue or a bothersome conscience? Either way, the Korean based manufacturer admitted on Thursday that they had been lying to customers in their own backyard by promoting the Xenon flash' on the LG Optimus 2X...

Outright lying from LG. Never will I purchase one of their products. There is no excuse, none whatsoever. They ought to offer refunds to all buyers before a court offers for them.

Apple had a antanna problem and said 'heres free bumbers'. Why would you think LG should provide refunds if the phones does what its supposed to do? Im sure you don't buy a phone solely on the camera do you? If the phone works as advertised as a phone then a issue with the camera shouldn't be that big of a problem.

Apple didn't lie about anything and LG did yet you feel LG did nothing wrong?

Apple did lie, they said it wasn't the iPhone, it was the people who where holding it wrong. Not only did they lie about it, they put the blame on there own customers. It wasn't until it went full blown on the media about the issue that Apple confirmed the issue and tried to show other phones have the death grip problem. My point is regardless of the issue, refunds won't be put in place.

Apple held a public conference within a week. They addressed the issue. They offered full refunds with no restocking fee and free cases. iPhone 4 broke all sales records.

LG has lied purposely about the type of camera they use. That's totally different. Also this article has nothing to do with Apple, but you brought them up. Why so obsessed with them?

Kinda like how Apple keeps bragging that the iPhone 4 was made of gorilla glass, but that 2 feet drop begs to differ. That was a bigger lie than LG's, LG's was just about flash which affects the camera shots, Apple's affected the phone as a whole as almost the whole phone is made of that "gorilla" glass.

It's still a lie... I don't need to debate which one was "bigger" or whatever. They both lied. End of story.

Is Gorilla Glass supposed to be shatter-resistant or shatter-proof?

Either way, the iPhone 4 and 4S are neither. Quite a few folks have destroyed the back glass panel on their iPhone, sometimes by dropping it, sometimes by not protecting it in some way... my sister-in-law got a 4S last year, and bought some little over-hyped protective plastic case for it... she doesn't know when or how, but one day she took the case off to look at it and discovered the back glass panel not only shattered all the way through, but the glass chips were falling out of it too.

whether it's price fixing, lying to customers, or just all around sh*t products, LG is in a league of their own.

LG products have always sucked in my eyes. Their build quality is questionable. They use extremely cheap plastics (not saying other manufacturers like samsung don't) and they have ZERO inspiration in their design. NONE. Atleast manufacturers like HTC and Motorola have a DESIGN LANGUAGE. LG has a plastic slab. Bravo. LG's UI is a fusion of iOS and touchwiz.. except it is much uglier, laggier, and less intuitive than touchwiz and iOS. LG needs to shake things up if they want to become competent because they do not have anything special.

Yes, the basic elements in LG's "Optimus UI" are nearly identical to Samsung's TouchWiz, and the rest of LG's UI skin is jerkier and truncated, and doesn't even look nearly as nice as TouchWiz. Imho, even the iPhone looks better than "Optimus UI".

I've met some decent LG feature phones, but I have never ever met a decent LG smart phone. Their Windows Mobile devices (and WinMo was bad anough on its own) were the worst of the worst... remembering the LG Incite on AT&T... and their Android devices have also been at the bottom of the barrel... even the high-end ones like the LG Revolution on Verizon have been junky. Never been impressed, ever. I don't even see the LG Quantum any more... AT&T still sells the original Samsung Focus, and the Quantum was the first of the original three WP devices on AT&T to have sales halted.

I will never ever buy an LG phone again. I Had there G2X and it was trash and they lied from the beginning about it coming with gingerbread but it didn't.

I hope you go the way of RIM

I've had LG phones and they have been the worst I've ever owned with glitches.

LG EnV Touch

Got rid of the EnV to get more issues with the EnV touch. Will never buy another LG phone in my lifetime. My friends had issues with their Chocolates and EnV3s & 2's.

Never liked LG phones anyway. Always bad experience. My friends have bad experience and were thinking about switching to the iPhone because of LG. I told them to try a higher end smartphone as those don't have nearly as many issues. Meh now LG they lie. Disgusting.
