LG Thrill 4G Unboxing

0. phoneArena posted on 18 Aug 2011, 19:52

Even despite being AT&T’s very first 3D capable smartphone, the LG Thrill 4G retains the typical packaging found with most of the carrier’s offerings. Naturally, images of the handset are splattered in the front and back of the box...

The 3D feature is definitely emphasized more on the thrill. The 3D menu really popped in the video (imo) and I could actually notice it being a 3D device. Thats something I can't say off the bat about the evo. Even though I think of 3D as a gimmick, watching this makes me want to play with one.

considering the massive hardware that the phone packs and what looks to be solid build quality, im ecstatic at the $100 price point. I'm assuming they went that low because they dont have the brand recognition and are using the pricepoint to build some. Either way not too shabby from the video. Had it dropped 6 months ago I might have been tempted to grab one to play with it. Since its so close to the SGS2 and Nexus Prime launching, its going to be overshadowed quickly (again, that $100 pricepoint is a great way to overcome that lol)

I just bought a European version of this LG Thrill, the LG Optimus 3D. It is very cool... fast and the 3D content is amazing.. even on the YouTube already has several 3D movies (documentaries) and fun quick 3D videos..

The only thing so far is that this version does not work on ATT 3G here in the US, only in a few areas where ATT has the 2100 mhz antennas, otherwize i only get the EDGE signal... so I am waiting for the Thrill 3D and at 4G speeds, which it is identical, from what I saw on this video. However, I am taking this LG phone to Brazil where , all the carriers there uses 2100 mhs for their 3G.. so....

I am wondering if this delay from ATT is because they may want to release already with the Android 2.3.4, the latest... because , so far, LG says, based on blogs, that their upgrade will be only in October, so.. I want the Gingerbread 2.3.4 now.

Also, I don't care for the the 2.3.3 version neither.. this version does not have the Gtalk with video and some other cool stuff. I love my ATRIX with 2.3.4, it does it all and it fast.

Anyone knows about the upgrade to 2.3.4 on this LG Thrill or the Optimus 3D ?

I saw something on the XDA site , but not really.

I'm hoping LG finally made a winner here. They haven't exactly been superb at making smartphones for the US carriers.

i'm actually pretty thrilled to test this phone out. i actually happen to have an exclusive prototype device with no lg or at&t branding but it comes with some free att apps preloaded and on the back mentions a p925 model not p920 like the european version. only slight differences i see from my model is also that there is no at&t carrier logo in the corner. it's only on the lock screen and drop down menu. i hope this phone is wayy better than the prototype because prototype still has few bugs and also for being dual core, lags a bit at times. again, i have a prototype device. the 3d content though, i've played with an evo 3d and lg has stepped in the game, i think 3d quality is better on the lg thrill 4g than evo 3d
