LG Optimus Slider coming soon at Best Buy sans contract, for Virgin Mobile
Back during the summer, we reported on a model that was rumored to come to Sprint known as the LG Gelato Q. That phone became the LG Optimus Slider and while a September 11th launch was shown on the leaked internal screen shots, the phone has not yet been announced by Sprint-or any other carrier for that matter. But new information brought to our attention makes it appear that Sprint has decided to let this model go to its pre-paid Virgin Mobile division.

Tonight, one of our loyal readers pointed out to us that Best Buy has the LG Optimus Slider on its web site, listed as coming soon. The page shows the device being available for pre-paid carrier Virgin Mobile, without a contract, for $199.99. Not much in the way of specs is available, but we can tell you that the LG Optimus Slider offers a 3.2 inch LCD screen and a 3MP camera on back. A portrait oriented slide sliding QWERTY gives the phone its name and Android 2.3 is installed.

We probably will have to await the official introduction of the device by LG and Virgin to find out some of the other specs such as processor speed, RAM, resolution of the screen and some of the other important numbers that phone fanatics love to hear about. But with Best Buy already preparing to roll out the LG Optimus Slider, at least we know that the unit is on its way to Virgin Mobile soon.

Thanks, Anonymous Tipster!
