New LG G7 ThinQ image leaks out: the notch is really real

LG is about to unveil its very first smartphone with a notch - à la iPhone X, or Essential Phone. The company already confirmed that the handset's name is G7 ThinQ, and we've even seen some renders and photos allegedly showing the device. Now, a new LG G7 ThinQ image is here to provide the cleanest look at the upcoming phone.

Revealed by Evan Blass, the new G7 ThinQ image - seen above - appears to be taken from promo material that LG itself will use to present the phone. It certainly looks like the new handset has its power button on the right side - just as these leaked G7 ThinQ renders have suggested last week. This represents a change for LG, as all its recent flagship phones, including the G6 and V30, feature rear-mounted power buttons (with embedded fingerprint sensors). On the G7 ThinQ, the fingerprint sensor stays on the back, next to a dual camera with LED flash and laser auto focus.

The LG G7 ThinQ will be fully and officially unveiled next month, on May 2. According to rumors, the handset should come with a software trick allowing users to hide its notch, if they find its appearance annoying.

Just like the LG V30S ThinQ (introduced in February), the G7 ThinQ will rely on AI (Artificial Intelligence) technologies to deliver enhanced features related to camera, voice commands, and more. We're assuming that the smartphone will be launched via all major US carriers, but that remains to be seen.

So, what do you thinq about the LG G7 ThinQ thus far?
