T-Mobile LG G7 ThinQ begins receiving July 2018 Android security patch
Yesterday, seven days after Google released the July 2018 Android security patch for all Pixel smartphones and the Nexus 5X and 6P, the T-Mobile-branded LG G7 ThinQ begun receiving the latest security patch too.

As with Google’s smartphones, the security update resolves various vulnerabilities found within the operating system, with perhaps the biggest removed flaw being one found within the media framework. This, on devices that don’t include the July 2018 patch, allows certain hackers to remotely access smartphones and, in some instances, even take control. Nevertheless, not everything is related to the smartphone’s security. After all, in addition to these fixes, LG has also bundled in a number of unspecified system improvements that should allow for a better overall software experience.

Following in the footsteps of previous updates, the latest Android security patch for the G7 ThinQ is currently available to download as an OTA update, although the third-largest US carrier is expected to roll out the new software in stages, in order to avoid congestion on its network, so it may be a while before all smartphones are eligible for the patch. However, those who are eager to receive the update and don’t wish to wait for the notification can manually check its availability via the settings menu on the smartphone or through the LG Bridge on their PC or Mac.
