LG G6 teaser says that the upcoming flagship will be reliable

The LG G6 has a huge burden. After the LG G5's failed attempt at offering modular accessories (and the subsequent success of the Moto Z's modular build), the new flagship needs to present something that will make consumers reach for the phone. Power users, smartphone fans and general tech fanatics might want to wait for the Samsung Galaxy S8 to be launched, especially since that handset will be powered by the new Snapdragon 835 chipset...

I am so hyped up for this phone, I fall in love with it more and more with every leak and teaser gets published.

Me too, but I still have mixed feelings about the SD821. It's only a couple of months old and it would be great (for LG's sales as well) if they can price it cheaper than the S8. But on the other hand they could have waited a couple of months for the more energy efficient SD835 that all the other flagships will have..

If I was in the market for a new smartphone, I wouldn't consider any phone with an SD 821. Seriously, why would I use last year's processor this year? I understand why LG did it and I can't really complain, but I'd rather wait until the 835 comes to other devices later this year.

The 821 isn't "Last year's processor" though. Besides, I highly doubt you'll see a real improvement in performance from the 835 anyway.

It's basically an overclocked 820, so in my eyes it's a year-old processor. Also, even if the 835 doesn't come with performance improvements (which is obviously untrue), we'll see greater battery life (more efficient architecture), faster and safer charging (QC 4 with Power Delivery compatibility), better image quality (improved ISP), support for LPDDR4X (power efficient RAM) and UFS 2.1 (faster storage interface), amongst other things. Knowing this, it would be silly to get the G6 when you could just wait a few more months and get a better device. Now obviously, if they price it at $600 at launch like the G5, I couldn't complain.

LG G6 with S821 will perform better then the S8 on the 835, Samsung flagships always have the worst performance and system performance vs competitors devices but yes there are other aspects of the 835 that makes it such a big upgrade over the 821.

The SD 821 is a fast SoC and only started showing up on smartphones starting in November of 2016. The SD 821 has proven itself to be a fast and efficient processor. Things like Daydream VR has proven this, especially when it can sustain a QHD display at 60 fps. So it certainly is no slouch.

Based on the battery results from gsmarena, the battery drain of the A73 packing Kirin in the Mate 9 doesn't seem to have improved over the A73 in the Mate 8. Perhaps it has improved a bit, and it's the fault of the hungrier GPU for reduced numbers. I have a feeling that the battery life isn't going to improve much with the 835, maybe due to Qualcomm's so-called customizations.

I meant A72 in the Mate 8

Samsung's fabrication unit is producing SD835 this year. The first production batch has already been reserved by Samsung. LG would have to wait 4 to 5 months more if it needs to release a phone with SD835

the 821 is basically just a slightly higher clocked 820, and the 820 has been out for a while now. I am hoping they come out with the g6 plus, or something, with the 835.

never buy a lg phone at launch. LG phones are most likely to drop $200 after 4-5 months. first batch of lg phones is also more prone to bootloop

Silly statement, as the same could be said about Samsung and other Andriod phones. S7 dropped from $679 to $429/$499 in 3 months. https://www.androidheadlines.com/2016/06/deal-samsung-galaxy-s7-32gb-unlocked-429-99-062216.html http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/06/28/deal-alert-unlocked-galaxy-s7-dual-sim-sale-499-99-via-ebay/

Well, in Canada the G5 dropped to $360 CAD (275 USD) during the holiday period. Cheaper than even S6

The S7 is still the same price from all retailers and. Arriers per PA's own article. A reseller like carriersbfor ecample has already bought the pbone amd thus can lower thr price to encourage sales. How do you think that is the price everyome is selling it for? Plus you linked the International model, not the US model. I dont k ow how you thibk some outaide seller, represents everyonwa price.

Seriously concentrate on the article and others post. You ain't perfect, nor is English is your first language. Techie is American, so English is OK. This is not sissy or cnour or marorun, where they don't capitalise. This is what happens when you write on a phone. Don't you have nothing positive to say rather than being a police grammar....? Typical iFan.

I do believe I capitalise. If not it's just because I didn't notice. So it sounds like you are the grammar police also.

I think you need to learn what an argument is, because I'm not arguing anything with scum like yourself. Be gone insect.......

Only because no one wants the standard S7, everyone buys edge. LG phones drop faster than anything else, it's why they have profit problems.

Why is the Note7 still being referenced... Let it go already... Now LG needs to release this phone the same day they announce it... Anything later and it will be to late... Samsung is supposed to show a teaser video during MWC of the S8... Matter of fact LG release it now!!!

Same here. :)

Nice!!, but I surely hope this reliability also applies to the Carrier Locked Variants of the G6 as well, and not just the unlocked version. Well see, BUT I'M PSYCHED NONE THE LESS!! Don't mess this up LG, knock it out of the park!
