LG G6 Android 8.0 Oreo update arrives on AT&T devices, unlocked models too
It’s fair to say that the rollout of the Android 8.0 Oreo update for 2017’s LG G6 has been pretty slow. First, roughly three weeks ago, the new software began hitting Verizon’s devices, while Sprint's customers got a taste of the software two weeks later. Now, after yet another week, it has been confirmed that both owners of the unlocked variant and those on AT&T can finally take advantage of the software.

In terms of what the update has to offer, LG has limited itself to simply offering the native features that Android Oreo brings, this that means Picture in Picture support, new notification badges, and a slight visual change to the way notifications are handled will all be included. Nevertheless, in terms of UI changes, LG is understood to have kept things to a minimum. Despite this, though, the newly-updated software should offer significant performance improvements. In addition to all of this, the unlocked variants will gain the May 2018 security patch, while AT&T’s customers will have to make do with the April equivalent.

When it comes to those who are eager to receive the update, owners of the unlocked LG G6 should keep an eye out for a notification regarding an update with the software version US99720a. Also, those on AT&T’s network will be looking for the H87120c code. Alternatively, users can manually search for the update through the settings menu which should reveal the update's availability.
