Top Apple analyst Kuo sees Apple Glasses coming in 2020

Ming Chi-Kuo no longer works for KGI Securities, but he still is following Apple. In a note to clients at his new firm, Kuo says that Apple's AR enabled Apple Glasses will be released in 2020. This dovetails with the original prediction made by Loup Ventures' analyst Gene Munster, who said last year that the Glasses would launch in 2020. But a more recent forecast made by Munster calls for a December 2021 launch of the device, which he expects to be bigger than the iPhone.

Kuo came up with his prediction as he told his clients about the future products and events that he says will be the impetus for Apple's next trillion dollar move in valuation. On August 2nd, Apple became the first U.S. publicly traded company to be valued at one trillion dollars. Kuo sees continued strength in services, the aforementioned Apple Glasses and an Apple Car leading the way to a valuation of two trillion dollars. Kuo says that the automobile industry is at a point where Apple can bring change to the industry similar to what the iPhone did to the  smartphone business in 2007. The analyst sees the Apple Car first hitting the roads in 2023-2025.

As far as the AR Glasses are concerned, we know that Apple CEO Tim Cook has high hopes for AR. Last year, there was talk that Apple Glasses will use a new operating system dubbed rOS for reality operating system, and that the product will carry a model number of T288. An executive at contract manufacturer Quanta, the company that produces the Apple Watch, said that a device like Apple Glasses could be available in the market as soon as 2019. But Cook said last year that the technology required for the product is not mature enough and that consumers would not be satisfied with the device if it used currently available technology.

Munster expects Apple to sell ten million Apple Glasses in the its first year of availability. Priced at $1,300, he sees the product ringing up $13 billion in revenue during its first 12 months.
