KitKat code given by HTC to Google; HTC One Google Play edition update in Google's hands

HTC America sent out a tweet on Friday to announce that it has sent Google the Android 4.4 code for the HTC One Google Play Edition. Because this is the sotck Android version of the phone, it receives software updates directly from Google faster than any other HTC One model. 15 days ago, HTC America president Jason Mackenzie said that KitKat would be on the phone in 15 days...

if its a stock google edition, why does google need htc to send them the code? I'd assume google would have written the code themselves because its a google edition.

HTC and Samsung still have to make custom kernels for their Google Play Edition devices in order for some things to work, like Beats Audio for the One.
