Verdict reached: Apple awarded $538.6 million from Samsung for patent infringement

The verdict is in. A unanimous jury made up of five men and three women has awarded Apple $538.6 million in the damages retrial of the long running Apple v. Samsung patent infringement case. The big issue in this trial was whether Samsung owed Apple for the complete value of each phone it sold with un-licensed Apple parts inside, or whether the damages should be limited to the value of the infringed part that Samsung used without permission...

Apple has had the best display in a phone year after year (X, 7, 6s, I think 5s too, 4 or 4s for sure).

Hopefully Samsung just pays and shuts up, since they (Samsung) admitted they knowingly infringed on Apple patents.

Very cheap for Samsung, this was the necessary leg up they needed to kick start the Galaxy.

Question, why does Apple sue Samsung but doesn’t sue these Chinese companies?

Because Apple bend over for Chinese government and secondly they doesn’t make that much money to pay Apple that redicuous amout of money.

JY Lee's, his dad's, probably his 3rd cousins' bank accounts make Tim Cook's look like yours. That, plus the fact that he did a year in jail, Tim Cook would rather be JY Lee.

Tim Cook is an employee, not the founder or family of a corrupt dynasty. I'm pretty sure Tim Cook would rather value his soul.

Sales one way. Innovation, quite the other.

After 17 minutes, it’s obviously to late the edit that post, so you’ll just have to think about things more clearly in the future before that 240 seconds expires. Apple gets parts from Samsung, sells those parts, then give Samsung some money. A pimp (Apple), has his hooker (Samsung) sell her parts (vajayjay). The pimp (Apple) collects the money, and pays the hooker (Samsung). Another name for a hooker is a bi**h also know as a biatch.

In your scenerio, Apple would be the John.

Thanks for this. Next time I buy gas, I'll laugh at how bad I'm pimping ExxonMobil. But the whole analogy has 1 flaw. The wise Tyrion Lannister once said, you don't buy prostitutes, you only rent them.

Samsung is being sued by one of their biggest (if not the biggest) clients. Oh irony!
