July Security Patch pushed out by Verizon to Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, Moto E5 Play, and LG K20 V

Now that its August, older Verizon handsets are now receiving the July Android security update. Four models started to receive the update today that contains the security patch including the Samsung Galaxy S7 (software version R16NW.G930VVRS4CRG2), Galaxy S7 edge (R16NW.G935VVRS4CRG2), Moto E5 Play (ODPS27.91-24-2-3) and the LG K20 V (VS50118A).

The security update is dated July 1st, 2018, and Big Red asks that you complete two minor tasks before starting the updating process. Once you receive notification that the update has arrived on your phone, make sure that you are connected to a strong Verizon cellular signal or a Wi-Fi network. And the carrier wants you to fully charge your battery before starting the updating process.

The updates are being disseminated via OTA updates, which means that they are distributed in waves. If you own the Verizon branded Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Moto E5 Play or LG K20 V, be on the lookout over the next few days for a notification telling you that a software update has landed on your phone.
