J.P. Morgan analyst sees TSMC winning 100% of Apple A10 orders

Every year it is the same thing. We hear that Samsung or TSMC will be building a majority of Apple's next-generation Ax SoC. Then, rumors come out saying that the other firm is building the lion's share of the chipset. This back and forth has more importance to it this year because of the perceived variations between TSMC built A9 chips, and those produced by Samsung...

Really? The delusion is strong with this guy/girl. No wonder why Apple users are considered thick.

Wait u think Apple didn't kno there design wouldn't work on Sammy 14nm process... U think after apple get samples of the chip months before launch they didn't kno the difference.... Sammy didn't messed up... If I give u a design and u make exactly wat I ask for but it turned to have issue... U can't blame who make it u have to blame who design and that's why u don't hear Apple suing Sammy because they kno its there design... I think the design was for the 16nm and not 14nm...

100% the design was for the 16nm they will have had to do a fast mode or make it so thing where better for the 16nm just to get it working, I think they may also have to under clock the CPU so it runs the same, that then gives problems if max out, this is why the sd 810 as not just been moved to 14nm

When I say underclock I mean, they will have had to do something to make them work the same way as one is way bigger soc, I.e. They never was going to work the same

So the high paid J.P. Morgan analyst is stating something we all could predict on our own. Then come next year Samsung will still probably be manufacturing some of the A10 units anyway. Maybe I should get a raise...

Trying their best to make such a big deal of this. Go 100% with TSMC. We will see if they can keep up with production demand. All this is just speculation, boring drivel.

They got 100% A8 order if I remember correctly.

That was old tech easy done, but in saying that tsmc as no other orders next year, so they may be able to do it

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple deliberately restricted the Samsung chip's performance just to make Samsung look bad.

Both companies are busy laughing at everyone making billions. Only the genius' in the forums are taking all this to heart. Both chips are outstanding as proven everywhere.

I doubt it. Come one man, it's 2-3% difference. It's within tolerance. There are lots of facst we dont know. speculation is stupid. First off I doubt Apple would risk sabataging its own products to make Samsung look bad, because it would be Apple who looks bad. Also, non-biased Apple sites liek Tom's Hardware shows its Samsung's chip that has the advantage and states it depends on how the testing is done. So sites who want to make Samsung look bad, did bullcrap testing. The fact is, 2-3% just isnt worth talking about. If it was the other way around, there wouldn't even have been any articles.

They will have 100% restricted it to make it closer to tsmc soc, but I be thinking it was not done to make them look bad

Apple is pissed they wont be getting any money from Samsung, so they dont want to pay them anything either. Go with TSMC. net iPhone will be literally blowing up from bad chips.

Apple does NOT have 700billion in cash. This is their Cash and Cash equivalents:http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bs?s=AAPL+Balance+Sheet&annual Apple uses long term reporting, where it shows they have a ton of money...but none of that is guaranteed either. It's a projection of worth.

TSMC has the better performing A9 chip, maybe Apple should give them the exclusive. Can they mass produce on Samsungs level is the question.

You should actually read that link. The Samsung one is superior actually and they have more street credit than the ones that claim tmsc chips are better. We shall see who Anandtech agrees with but judging from the articles, Tom's is a little more trustworthy.

No prob reading the link, simply not interested in the least with conversing with him. It's big business as usual Taters, I don't really care who makes the chip, as long as it performs. I'm not interested in these trolls who have a hard on for this, and that company. Hate Apple, Google, or whoever, but the same crap day in and day out, is pathetic

Ahaha, that's funny to see how you cite the articles where the info proves your words and deny any article which contradicts your statements. That's called cherry-picking.

Taters, you haters just bounce back and forth like pinballs, always siding with who is giving credit as long as it's not to Apple. If PA runs that android is better at something, you guys post PA links, but as soon as Apple comes ahead "PA is a paid shill or biased". There are plenty of studies that contradict the same studies if you put in an extra 3 minutes searching. It doesn't matter, you guys just can't seem to accept that iPhones are great phones and do pretty much anything android can and some things that android can't. All devices are going to upgraded, updated and they will leap ahead of the others throughout the year - and that's ok. That link above is just like the study from PA - they have their protocols of running these tests, PA has theirs - it's either you agree with PA or you don't entirely, otherwise your "links" are cherry picked - and makes the argument moot. But if you choose to disagree with PA than those other articles where Samsung or android wins - you should also disagree -- so which is it? Bounce, bounce, boink, bong-bong-bong.

I post links all the time that show Apple winnign in something. Fior example, I posted 2 links to speed tests of the iPhone 6S vs the S6. The iPhone won in several of the thinsg done. The difference is, it was from a trustworthy unbias sources who made sure the testing was more fair. Here see for yourself. I dont care who wins. What I care about is if the tester did the test in a fair and reason way, or was he making sure the test favored who is paying him. Here look for yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aybrBYKmqZg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0AAcE1l5BE What I care about is fair, not who wins. Because whoever wins doesn't change what I plan to buy. What I care about is making sure the tester when doing a test wont lie and say one phone did something better when the video clearly shows differently which I have seen plenty of. I have questioned every test PA has done no matter the winner because their numbers are aleays significantly more off vs other sites...for example..in the benchmark tests, PA gives the Note 5 a bench score around 4700, while other sites get over 5000 on the multicore test...that is a considerable difference. On the single core, other sites get 1600 while PA only got 1300. I expect everyone doesnt test the same, but when results are as much as 40% less vs a non-biased site, I will question it. Its not about who wins with me; its about fairness.

I dont care who wins. What I am showing is a huge inconsistency in PA vs everyone else. Again I question all the tests even if a Galaxy device wins. Example In benchmarks, the Note 5 beats the 6S Plus. Right? So! But here is my problem. PA test results in a 1300/4700 score for the Note, while other sites get high 1600/5000 score ON THE SAME TEST. How is it, non-bias sites use the same applications, name in this case GeekBench and they get a higher score by as much as 40%? Its not about who wins for me. My question si simple, no matter who wins was the test done fairly. Time and time again we have show that PA is inconsistency and does test that favor their bias. if the iPhone wins over a Galaxy device because it is better at something, GREAT! For what it costs it should win in something. The iPhone has been winning at lots of things for years and will always win at something. But when it comes to device reviews, as liek the old days with video game reviews, bias has been hard to overcome and even with their favor clearly loses, they play it down and try to turn it into a win. Just like we saw in the camera tests. The S6 won 2 of 5 rounds, but got more votes. Teh fans say the iPhone should win because it won 3 of the 5 rounds, yet didnt get the most votes. DXO come sback with even better tests results that still give the S6 an slight edge over the iPhone. Users of the iPhone also say the camera is taking only slightly better pics vs lasts year model. But even PA's owb tests was flawed because they crop the Galaxy photos down to make them match the iphones way of taking pics, which makes them less sharp and the colors get screwed and its adds noise to the photo and yet the S6 still won and they wanted to call it a tie. A tie is an equal score, not one having a higher score. I just want fair. The winner is just who wins. Doesn't effect my buying decision.

Lol no flip flopping like a fish here like you isheep. And you can believe what kind of garbage koolaid Apple spews but iPhone are extremely limited and you don't have to dig deeply to realize that either. Anytime I post a PA link it's usually because I am here at site and PA is citing another reliable source. And when I call them outdoor being shills, it's a garbage PA opinion piece. But of course you being a flip flopping sheep fish yourself, and you not catching on to patterns like that very fast, I am not surprised that you fail to notice that. Typical sheep.

If you sheep really need a guide, here it is. Trust worthy sites are the ones that specifically look at specs and facts only like dxomark and display mate. Tom's hardware and Anandtech and pc mag are okay. They still have opinion pieces where bias creeps in. Gsmarena is pretty fair well rounded site. Pocketnow and techradar and Engadget are meh. They have some good editors and shills alike. PA, BGR, artechnica, CNET, the Verge are just flat out unreliable unless they cite one of the above websites. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what I just outlined and the above has nothing to do with Android Vs IOS. It's just logic Vs idiocy.
