A new Tizen device has recently been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance and interestingly it carries the same model name and number as the Samsung Galaxy S III. Shown as the “GT-I9300_TIZEN,” the phone carries the same initials as the Android-based Galaxy S III, but is said to be running the upcoming Tizen platform.
Confusing as it is, we wouldn’t be surprised to see another variation on the Galaxy S III theme with Tizen from Samsung - after all we’ve seen virtually the same design arrive on the Galaxy Note II.
There is always a slight chance that Samsung is just testing its new Tizen operating system on the Galaxy S III, but it wouldn’t make any sense for the Koreans to certify that device. The listing mentions dual-band Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct and a new Miracast standard for simplified streaming.
