Investors underwhelmed by Apple iPhone 4S; Apple's stock drops five times as much as NASDAQ

0. phoneArena posted on 04 Oct 2011, 14:22

While a major decline in the market might be to blame for some of the decline, Apple's stock is down five times as much as the NASDAQ market following the introduction of the Apple iPhone 4S; despite rumors to the contrary, there was no iPhone 5 introduced as some had expected...

Apple has officially taken a backseat to Android and the manufacturers of some of the most powerful smartphones in the market. Sad day for the once almighty and oh so powerful Cupertino company.

the iphone 4s is EXACTLY like i predicted a few month ago. ( in this site. you can read comments.)
but I never predicted this. I mean 4S is actually a good and decent device ( Im surprized. coz its an apple product ), and Im used to hear good comments from isheep no matter what a crap apple sell to them. but 5 % drop in shares only an hour after the announcment?

yeah I definitely agree. The iPhone 4S doesn't suck or anything, but I definitely expected it to sh*t on all the Android devices with all the rumors and the extended amount of time they had us wait. I expected it to be THE phone but now its just another smartphone. How anti-climatic

Yeah, lol. Sell! Sell while you still can!

The stock may recover, but this is funny. Investors are NOT happy, despite Apple's spin.

Can this be really happening? Remember, Mr. "Let's have a 3.5" screen in 2012 lol". The bigger they are - the harder the fall. And I sure as hell hope that this is the beginning of the fall of the big white evil giant.

1 and a half year wait for a (S). you gotta be kidding me. It took that long to improve the specs that should have been on the phone when launched back in 2010. DROID DOES BABY

Stock may still be high but they probably bought it at a higher price so now that they want to sell it, they will lose money instead of making a profit....

A day may come when the freedom of users is taken. When we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of iPhones and shattered Android phones when the Age of Men comes crashing down, but it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you stand, Consumers of the West!

For Freedom!

Yeah I don't think even taco has a witty remark for this one. Plain and simple, all todays event did was make the iPhone MORE like Android... and all features that Android has had for years.

Taco will either be found dead in a gutter with disappointment or else handing over all his cash for his 'new' old iphone 4s in a robotic programme mode

But this is what Apple have been struggling with since day one... Does everyone remember the beginning?? No MMS, 2MP camera, no front facing camera.. etc, etc...

In terms of hardware, Apples "catch-up" has brought them up to 8 month old hardware level, which is about to be superseeded in Nov/Dec.. Lest we forget that Samsung and Nvidia are on the ball with quad core CPU's as well, plus double the RAM still!

... and Taco? I just ate Tacos for dinner :p

It is! And I'm kind of disappointed that T-Mo will be the only carrier to not have the iPhone. 2.5% of our customers use iPhones on our prepaid service alone, and we have more coming every day.

I do support the move by Apple to sell an unlocked GSM version on the Apple Online Store. That way us lonely T-Mo customers can still have some Appley goodness.

And if Sprint gets the exclusivity it wants, then their towersa aren't strong enough to handle the extreme jump in customers. Their service will fail and it will result in a lot of unlocking and switching to Verizon, ATT, T-Mobile, and even the smaller carriers here in the US.

It couldn't happen to a nicer company.

Basically, the 4S is already pwned by the Galaxy S II in every respect except pixel count. If Huawei had made this announcement, nobody would have cared.

I'm glad the market realizes this even if the fanbois will still stand in line for it.

As a android user I am slightly dissappointed in Apple. While their hardware may not be the latest and greatest at all times, they are what drove android to be as great as it is today. Competition breeds success. This phone will probably still outsell any single handset by any other manufacturer (which is comical, but whatever, it's not my money), but there isn't really much for android to improve on in this edition of the competition. I guess now would be a good time to slow down a bit and refine the OS while apple is in hibernation mode.
