For all its improvements, there are several native applications for Windows Phone that are arguably more...

typical phoneareana comments. If I may have an opinion I believe the FB app intergration is so good on WP8 that I would never say it was a few steps back.

i installed the facebook app, but to be honest didn't use it but like 5 times. the people hub imo is the best way on wp. or if needed the touch optimised browser site is enough.

Like we said, it is that integration that is a differentiator from the other platforms. However, there are some seriously lacking components just as it relates to the messaging feature alone - can't send or receive pictures, no "seen" confirmation, messages do not sync in the hub. The integration of Windows Phone, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn is outstanding, the Facebook application itself is not on the same page as its peers.

Depends really, on a WP8 device it is really smooth and does everything it needs to do really. I found the iOS version to be pretty laggy.

maybe it's because of that intergration that I never go into the actual app. to post. I don't know of a single platform that outdoes the social intergration of WP8. It is super polished and an intergal part of the OS

To me, one good thing about the current FB app on windows phone, it never crashes although it has lesser features. Only the notification/messages/friend request buttons wont respond to touches until the app has loaded the home page almost completely. And i cant tag names in comments, just to name a few.

And i cant comprehend on the problem with the lack of Facebook chat, i thought you can chat directly from the messaging section? Once you add in your Facebook account into your accounts section, your facebook contacts will appear in People and Threads in Messaging section, and you can chat with those online directly without the need for an app. Or the guy complaining still has no clue on how to fully utilise the social integration in Windows Phone.

agree with that. lets comment on how good the whole FB package is versus jabbing at the weak points and leaving a few lines to the possitives.

Totally agree with you papss. I carry both HTC One S and HTC 8X with me all the time and I have always found the WP8 app much better to use than the Android version: it's actually faster (Android version fast(not faster) now after update), visually more appealing and UI much better (IMO). The baked in version, though not visually appealing, works so well & also never had major issues with it, mentioned limitations notwithstanding.

Well it does need some improvements, but I still prefer it to what I used on the iPhone and Android.

The only issue I have seen with the app is on the main feed it gets refreshed all the way too the top if you do anything in the app.

I think this guy he didn't understand how to use the facebook chat on windowsphone. honestly windowsphones have the best facebook chat integration and its also very simple to make your status online--offline. just go to the messages and there an icon down- right side where you can change you facebook chat status.. but the promlem wich this guy meant was the news feed part of the app wich is really useless, because every new feed it brings you back to the new feeds.

agreed but give them a break.. I mean with all the android phones sitting around like they have time to get used something else before making judgement about it.

I barely use the Facebook app. The people hub is better. But it is good they are working on making it better.

The problems with the app are numerous. To start, I hate the auto refresh every 30 seconds and whenever you like or comment. Second of all the interface for groups is substandard and leaves me where I don't always know if I'm looking at the most recent entry. It also needs to allow editing.
as far as the integration...i love it. Above and beyond IOS and android. But still lacking. No option to share posts, delete or edit posts, you can only like text posts not pics, and most importantly for me and I'm sure others, there is NO integration for groups. I can form groups in people, even look at a combined group feed, but it does not sync with any specific group or show group feeds from my Facebook groups. The notifications in "Me" need banners, and a lock screen option, and also do not notify for FB group activity. Final group complaint would be not being able to post pictures to a specific group.
as far as the chat goes, I don't think people are unaware of the feature that's baked in, I think they are disappointed with the lack of group and picture messaging.

aside from these annoyances, it is a fantastic integration and one of the biggest reasons I came back for wp8.
