Theres only 1 way to make a comparison and that's to take a pic with a dslr and see which phone comes closest to it. Also how do you do a camera comparison without the lumia 1020 and I would have expected the note 3 in there too.

It's funny the z1 comes 2nd the compact comes last considering they have the same camera and imo looking at there images they look identical.

Well, there is always a bias towards entries coming first in multiple choice contexts. Besides that, the angle, illumination, magnification and distance of the different frames do not appear to be exactly the same. Since no comparison to the real thing can be made a judgement about fidelity is very difficult to make. What is measured in this test is what the majority would like reality to look like. Quite subjective even if the positioning bias is not accounted for. ;)

Seems odd not to include any of the Nokia phones. 1020? Also, I would guess that a large percentage of camera-phone photos are taken of people indoors. It would be great if these tests included a "pub shot" or a posed "couch shot" of a real person with real skin tone, taken in typical indoors lighting conditions. My experience with cameras that don't have xenon flashes is that the faces turn out blotchy and grainy. Most good smartphone cameras do an adequate job on architecture in full sun. But that's not where a lot of my real-world photos are taken. Maybe I need to get out more. :-)

It funny cause phonearena didn't include a Lumia phone cause they knew it would have won.

THESE RESULTS ARE FAKE, I OWN THE LG G2, THE GALAXY S4 AND THE IPHONE 5S. I CONSTANTLY COMPARE PICTURES WITH ALL 3 AND BY FAR THE IPHONE FALLS BEHIND EVERY TIME. FIRST TAKE A LOOK AT THE AMOUNT OF CANVAS IN EACH PICTURE, THE IPHONES AREA ON SCREEN IS MUCH SMALLER THAN THE GALAXY AND THE G2. LEAVING MUCH TO DESIRE WHEN TAKE STILL PICTURES WHEN THE OTHERS ARE STANDING CLOSE THE IPHONE REQUIRES YOU TO STEP BACK TO GET THE SAME AMOUNT IN THE FRAME MAKING IT NECESSARY TO ZOOM THUS LOSING IMAGE QUALITY AND STABILITY. APPLE PAID PHONEARENA TO POST THESE RESULTS. I AM DISAPPOINTED IN PHONEARENA FOR LYING FOR MONEY. SHAME ON YOU.

Ummm... do you have real proof that Phonearena took money from Apple and rigged the results? And I'm not talking about your word against theirs, or about you yelling that you know because your iPhone takes crappy pictures. I'm calling BS on that.

"Ummm" Great way to start talking,,,, As a person who understands certain things about common logic I'd have to say you have none. I did not testify under oath that Apple Paid Phonearena but it sure as hell could be true considering the unrealistic results they claim. Oh and I never said "My iPhone takes crappy Pictures, what I said in case you don't know how to read is "MUCH TO DESIRE WHEN IT TAKES STILL PICTURES WHEN THE OTHERS ARE STANDING CLOSE THE IPHONE REQUIRES YOU TO STEP BACK TO GET THE SAME AMOUNT IN THE FRAME MAKING IT NECESSARY TO ZOOM THUS LOSING IMAGE QUALITY AND STABILITY". Oh and by the way your screen name suits you perfectly.

Well, aren't you just adorable! If PhoneArena makes so many claims of unrealistic results, then why are you here? I could go around spouting all sorts of things that 'could be true', but I know better than to be a random-accusation-monger. You pretend to speak the truth, but really all you are doing is venting your emotions at everyone. And yes, I do think my screen name suits me just fine, thank you... as my primary phone is an LG A340, and runs Java of all things, it is perfectly fitting, and even if I do use a smartphone as my primary phone at some point, it will still echo my general disdain for today's available smartphone OS choices.

"Adorable" Really? LOL You are a quack. Your gibberish was completely off topic. Going to the original post, I am a user of 3 different phones as well as a fourth which I only have for fun, A Windows 928. The simple fact that I use all three simultaneously and compare results makes me a pretty good judge of picture quality across all 3 models. As you probably didn't notice this was a POLL which indicates the well known common knowledge that Bovidae always follow in herds. iPhone users are more inclined to takes polls and answer questions about the iPhone in a more exaggerated manner than other more intelligent tech users. All this aside, Your opinion is useless when compared to facts. Save your Blah Blah Blah for someone else.

Well, I cannot assume any group behavior beyond the poll itself, so the conclusion that the poll is inherently skewed is not naturally my first choice thanks to Occam's Razor. Thus, the poll result itself classifies as the only fact to go on. Everything else is relatively meaningless speculation. It tends to bother me when people blindly take speculation to be truth, and the speculation-mongers tend to bother me even more because it is as if they know what they are doing. Calling the poll wrong automatically based solely on your own personal experience is just a bit backward... now I'm not saying that you are wrong about the quality of the pictures taken, as this is subjective, but the idea of the poll was to compare everyone else's subjective views and find which view was favored by weight. The results will not be a match for your view, nor are they a match for mine... heck, I unknowingly voted for the phone I like least. So, when I see someone miss the logical point of something like a poll, and appear to be missing it by choice rather than ignorance, it gets me going. Emotional appeals are never sufficient to override logic. Based on comment #105, though, it seems that logic may not necessarily be your game.

So these results are completely different than the last blind camera comparison. Honestly, these pictures were complete dooky. So much so that I didn't even vote on this because they all looked like garbage. Do a real test, use a nice DSLR for a master photo and then have an actual photographer take pictures with each phone.

Agreed, but in my opinion the images they provide always look like garbage because of the photo viewer on this site -- it really is crappy. A reference image from a known high quality camera would not be a terrible idea. Also, please provide higher res versions of the images so real comparisons can be made. Sorry to say it, but the image viewer really is crap for any useful comparison. Abstained from voting.

I own a 808. Please don't say like this. Comparing 808 with any other phone is a insult to 808!

You're right the 808 needs real competition

I must admit some of the photos are quite good but IMO nokias take better pictures

They didn't include a Nokia Lumia here (for example 1020). I'm not a fun of Nokia nor Windows phone...BUT the camera app of Nokia is very good!

I think camera tests should show how wide the pictures can be taken. Tripod suggestion is a valid point. Some phones take ugly square photos!
