The iPhone 4S is out facing a cruel world - one of dual-core Androids, much larger displays, LTE connected devices and an even more aggressively competitive future. But we care about the present…

screen size os etc is preference but the iphone 4s is still very underwhelming considering the wait and how long they had...if they had announced this in june dont think much fuss would have been made...am sure ill be able to get siri on my jailbroken ip4 soon...also with nexus prime to be announced next week spec wise its going to be outdated very soon...was hoping for a bigger leap to be honest.

Well... I don't use Apple's phones, but I was expecting something more, I feel let down and I don't even have an IPhone.

I have a bionic. I get 4g LTE all day and finish the day with 35% bat life with moderate usage i.e. gaming, streaming, music, web browsing. So, yeah, battery life thing is not an issue.

yeah, i was thinking that would be one of the major trade offs between the Droid 3 and the Droid Bionic but it really isn't. it makes me question my decision of choosing the Droid 3 sometimes especially since i'm getting better at typing with the on-screen.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you blind and someone read the chart to you....thats why you are confused? bigger screen RAM LTE!!!! and that battery life is a bald face lie.......I have the Bionic....unplugged it this morning at 7am used it for calls, surfing and music during the whole day.....even played Lets Golf for about 25 minutes and I STILL have 4 hours remaining (its 5pm here) the iPhone comes out of the gate as a second tier phone and will be in the bargin bin when the Vigor and Prime come a knocking

No, its specs are not completely in line with them. The SGS2 has a faster processor and the Bionic has LTE. Both have bigger screens than the 4s. And the reason we say it's outdated is that in just a couple of months we will see even faster, slicker, better featured phones than the 4S, and you will have to wait until at least June to see Apple try again. Btw, do you still believe that 52 percent of Android users want to switch to the next iPhone?

Nope lol

taco, the SGS2 was released like 6 months ago. Android phones are dropping 1.5ghz cores now. Apple just released a 1ghz core, which is the smallest core on that comparison other than the iphone4. So yea, its not top of the line. Lets call 1ghz... upper middle. It has the lowest talk time of the group with 3G.. which is how most people will use it, it has the slowest internet connection as all of the SGS2 variants are 21mb/s +... And that 3.5 inch screen is a joke. a flat out joke.

iphone has BY FAR better battery life than android phones. screen size is a preference not everyone wants a gigantic screen on a phone. You guys are grasping at straws. This is a top of the line phone that will CRUSH android phones in sales. SGS II is an after thought after today.

FAR better battery life is an exaggeration, most people don't want a teeny screen and since when did we care about sales? we know we're the minority. point is there's other better phones out there and i have one. it's not your day is it taco? ;)

Yeah, because 52 percent of Android users want an iPhone, right Taco? Lol, ain't letting this one go until you admit you were dead wrong. The iPhone is competitive with (but does not surpass in any way) the current Android lineup. That status will not last through the holiday season. And the SGS2 is far from an afterthought. It's already selling better than the SGS1, and people have clearly expressed their disappointment in the new iPhone.

who is willing to bet, the iphone 4s will out perform any android phones that are already out or are coming out this year. Just watch the "iphone 4s vs...?" that will soon start showing up on youtube...

Right, screen size is a preference. The problem is that Apple does not give you other than 3.5" option. They generally command your preference - like they do with many other things.

according to that chart, it has the worst. and the SGS2 has the best battery life of phones tested, even Phone Arena said that during its testing. your holding on to old quips.. get up with the program taco.

So basically its only advantage against most mid range android phones is the dual core cpu. . . BIG DEAL!

My biggest problem with the device is the timing and all the freaking rumors. If it was announced on time, this would have been an excellent device; but all these rumors had us fooled that something ground breaking was on its way. Its now where near groundbreaking but its still a good device and up to par with the top Android devices (the evidence is right there). My high expectations were definitely not met, but looking at the device for it is and what it offers now in comparison to what other devices offer, its still top tier. I was expecting something more than the usual Android update (bump in megapixels and processors) but I guess not. Siri does look nice though. Hopefully the camera kicks ass again too.

i'll tell you like i just told taco, 3 things. no 4G, same body, same iOS. that's why it fails.

It's specs are in line with the SGS2 mostly. Bionic has LTE over it. Both the SGS2 and Bionic's technology are from Late Spring 2011, like May. So Apple is essentially releasing an old tech product.

Taco is clearly blinded by retarded fandom. While I admit it is a nice device, it's really not that much greater than the last one. The processor and camera are a very nice upgrade. Two radios are irrelevant here in the United States because carriers will block the other frequency anyway, so that is moot. And, unless it's LTE, it ain't 4G to me.

I'm with you on this one Taco. The iPhone 4S isn't revolutionary, but it is directly comparable with current top-tier offerings from Android. The things Apple could have done to call it an iPhone 5: 1. Redesign of the form factor (no glass back, bigger screen) 2. More comprehensive iOS update (iOS 5 adds some new features, but I think it can be considered an iOS 4.5 version in terms of technical changes). 3. Support for 4G/LTE. I think out of those three things that Apple didn't change, the only thing that might deter consumers right now is that it is the same form factor as the iPhone 4, and the lack of 4G would be a lesser concern for most consumers in my opinion. Otherwise, it is a very competent phone that is getting a pretty incredible amount of hate.

@taco. Don't forget that with Siri and the icloud integration and iOS5, and the improvements they made into the ip4s' camera, ip4s would be way ahead of sgs2. Also, don't forget that dual core android phones have been compared to the single core ip4. Meaning, the dual core ip4s would be a quad core for android devices :-)

Dont know what apple was thinking but this is a sure gonna start downward trend for apple. I and many others expected a new look iphone 5 but keeping the same design wont generate any big demand. People want something new, new coool looking iphone 5 in their hands but not a year old lukin iphone 4. I was a definite buyer for the rumored slim lukin iphone 5 but now i have to consider some other phone. One sure customer out of Apple queue...
