iPad Air 2 for $180 here!

As per our iPad buying guide, the iPad Air 2 is a great tablet to purchase, even if Apple has stopped selling it on its website. Currently, if you go in the store, you can either buy a really expensive iPad Pro, or go for the baseline, $330 iPad. But we'd say that hunting for a nice deal on the good ol' Air 2 is a good idea!

It's only 16 GB of non expandable storage. Plus iOS 11 requires more storage, and apps continue to grow. Apple doesn't make any device with less than 32 GB of storage nowadays. Starting with the iPhone 8's they are all 64 GB of storage. So definitely something to think about. Plus iOS 12 requires more storage. So not worth it.

For Youtube and Spotify Playback is great IMO, you need to take a break man.

For Spotify and YouTube you can get cheaper devices than that. Plus if you spend a little more, then you can get superior devices than this.

The only thing you talk about are specs, that’s so pathetic, do you actually know that this iPad is going to be updated to the latest iOS? And it can also run the latest apps and the latest games with ultra graphics just like the newest iPad? Can you tell the same about a cheap android tablet which come already outdated with an android version from two years ago? And also the performance and app quality is very compromised, why don’t you just relax and forget about this site for a while? Omg you’re a psycho

Oh wow it's going to be updated. Now are they going to update this tablet so it can run ARKit? Oh wait Apple can't do that, because the SPECS are too crappy for that. Only the iPad pros can run ARKit. So I guess when I talk about specs it's not so pathetic now. Stop being an ignorant fool whatev. Do you like pushing or promoting crap to others. This tablet is crap now. Okay did you get that you ignorant fool.

Specs matter, even if Apple tells you that specs don't matter. That is what you should take away from this whatev.

So if specs are so important why are developers not making the most of them with android devices? :))))) Wanna spend a little time googling and on youtube watching how even the iPhone 6 is better on some games than the GS9? :))) Have this tissue box cause you’ll need it You’re an ignorant who self proclaim himself as a tech savvy person, you’re delusional af. Please stop replying, it’s exhausting to talk to a thing with a brain as dead as a paper weight

Want to explain why developers are making a lot more apps for Google's Play store? Oh, and the play store continues to out grow Apples app store by more than 3 to 1. Care to explain that one? For every 1 app that arrives on Apple app store, 3 apps arrive on Google's play store. There is now 1.6 million more apps on Google's app store compared to Apples app store. You can Google how Apple and some analysts said a few years ago (back in 2016) that by 2020 Apple was going to have 5 million apps by that time frame. Looks like that is definitely not going to happen now, right whatev? So Apple and those analyst certainly want to cover up that blunder. Oh, and you act like all Android devices are the same. So who is ignorant now. That's right, it's always been you.

"You can Google how Apple and some analysts said a few years ago (back in 2016) that by 2020 Apple was going to have 5 million apps by that time frame." I'm quite sure Apple have never said anything like that, analysts can say whatever they want, they can throw any numbers and no-one cares if they are right or wrong. Apple is actually cleaning their appstore, Google should do same, it doesn't matter if there's million or 5 million apps. Only thing which really matter is when you get the new interesting, popular and famous titles and well we iOS users are the ones who gets them ;)

Not really, sice it has useless speakers and the worst bluetooth support. Not a bad tablet, but certainly not good for music.

I don’t think the speakers are useless, they’re fine, you can’t expect the speakers on a 2014 IPad to be on par with actual smart speakers, despite being old it’s comparable to the newest iPads, just it’s not stereo, and about the Bluetooth support, it’s 4.2, I don’t know why you say it’s terrible, I mean many devices from this year are not on Bluetooth 5 yet

Bluetooth 4.2 ... really that is your reaction? What does BT version have to do with audio? And yes they are useless, mono one side firing - they are not even on par with most of the "regular" tablets. Nobody is comparing them to a dedicated speaker, that is just not fair, they would be destroyed.

The iPad Pro has the best speakers on a tablet, and I’ve seen comparisons with the air 2, the difference is not huge like to say they are useless, and about Bluetooth, I don’t know what you mean about the worst Bluetooth support, if you care to explain it would be nice, I’ve tried Bluetooth headphones on an air 2 and I don’t notice any difference with the iPhone, but whatever you say, the mission is to bash and troll apple, I’m sure you’re going to say now that the iPhone audio quality is the worst, I’m saving you time on the keyboard

If you clearly do not know what you are talking about, let me explain - BT version does not matter, codec support does. BT version has nothing to do with quality of the stream. I have the big iPad Pro and it's considerably worse than 13" Yoga tab 2 Pro - speaker wise. Surprise Apple products do not run on magic dust. BTW: You have seen the comparison I had bot in my hand, iPad Air 2 is useless, iPad Pro is OK. The difference is HUGE.

As far as I know apple lossless is comparable to flac and it sounds great on Bluetooth, and chances are if you’re an iOS users you can have music with that codec, the speakers are good, not useless, but you want to keep reaching, keep bashing apple if that makes you feel better, this a 180$ tablet with the latest os and also with the latest apps on the market, keep adding shortcomings if you want to, like any android tablet from that year can be even compared to this iPad

I have tried headphones on iPad = zero information value. What headphones, what was a source file, what codec was used = basic information. Lets say I bash Apple, but you clear have no clue how such a simple thing even works. I am Apple fan worse nightmare, I use Apple products, but I retained my ability to use my brain and be critical of a product. Funny how you are silent when I bash Samsung, HTC or MS and many others.

Read the reviews about this iPad, many praise audio quality, I don’t see anything wrong with the audio quality on this tablet, but go ahead, keep reaching, people will buy that iPad no matter what because it’s a steal

44. japkoslav

And what I just wrote about codecs? You know that mysterious thing ... well at least for you it's mysterious. Even audio output via jack sucks on my iPad Pro - garbage amplifier implementation. It's not a steal, it's an old, old tablet, price is only good, reasonable for a change. Nobody praises iPads (regual one) speakers. Nobody that ever used anything that can be considered as passable that is.

Well there are plenty of reviews praising the iPad in general including audio quality, and I told you, ALAC is similar to FLAC, so iOS devices are not in a disadvantaged position as you want to say, but again, keep reaching, I quit, you’ll keep reaching and it’s pointless to have a conversation with you, it feels like an endless contest, so let’s say you win, I hope you’re happy

Actually iOS11 is very light, it only takes 1.7gb space.

Try to convince sgodsell about this, he’s so furious with this article

So ARKit is not support with this older 2014 device. Now try to convince everyone here how updates matter when you cannot run the new software and AR apps. Why? Because the specs are TOO old. So I guess I was right specs DO matter. Only Apple zealots and ignorant fools would promote this crappy 2014 tablet, especially at $180. Give me a break.

Did you know that a lot of those apps have versions for devices which don’t support the ARKit? :))))))) Of course you don’t cause you don’t have an iOS device and you’re an annoying Samsung troll who’s got the pathetic life mission to destroy apple by trolling articles in PhoneArena, have you ever questioned your whole existence? It’s pointless in my opinion

It's a good device if one can bear with ios limitations, but I agree with sgodsell's point about storage. I wouldn't buy a device with 16GB storage in 2018. I own ipad air 2 64GB and so far I'm mostly satisfied.

Still use mine daily. Great tablet.

I still have an iPad 2 gifted to me in 2011, it's slow as hell, most apps won't open because the iPad won't upgrade anymore, the speaker is broken, but I still use it to play Spotify via Bluetooth and the device do the job or play Youtube with earphones, even the battery last a couple days despite not being replaced ever. I even used it in a photo business once to show off the photos to the client. Slowly but it did the job. I don't use it to browse or anything intensive like typing (joke) because the thing would simply freeze a couple seconds before responding. I know sgodsell won't approve this and I don't care, my tablet surely is way over its recommended life, but it still works. So spending $180 to use a not so old device for light usage or gifting to other you know won't play Asphalt 8 or Infinity Blade 3 is a nice idea to me. With that you can introduce someone to the Apple ecosystem or can give yourself a cheap upgrade from an older device.

IPad Air 2 can easily run asphalt 8 even asphalt 9, also infinity blade 3 won't be any problem for that. IPad Air 2 these days is still very powerful device. Also Fortnite runs great so you can also play the hottest mobile game with it.
