It is the software that spawned a revolution in the mobile space, leading to the proliferation of smartphones as primary tools for content consumption, web browsing and much more. Now, we've just been treated to iOS's latest major update, called iOS 5. The newest version of the software brings a lot of new features, some of which should be considered pretty important...

SOME GREAT things about android is lets say you want to download a free bootleg mixtape or album, YOU CAN DO THAT, if you want to stream a movie on the internet and not have to purchase it YOU CAN DO THAT, if you want a custom ringtone within seconds with buying from itunes YOU CAN DO THAT EASILY, if you dont want to go to a store and swapped the whole phone cause the battery may be acting up, with android you can just purchase another battery and pop it in, If a friends of yours has a movie on his or her memory card that you want to see you can pop that micro sd memory card into your android device and start watching, i have had the blackberry bold (16gb)original droid with preinstalled (8gb) the htc incredible with (16gb) the droid 2 (with 8gb) the lg dare with bonus (8gb) the droid x (16gb) won a (32gb) micro sd card at a convention the htc eris with (8gb) lg vortex with (2gb) in my lil memory card bag at home where i keep all my memory cards from past devices that i had and sold to get a new device I can basically say my droid x which has a 16 gb memory card in it now and i can easily pop in each of the other memory cards that i have it will then be like i have a device with 128gb memory and i paid 199.99 for my droid x when i first got it and the NEW iphone 4s at 64gb MAX is 399.99 android just has more appeal people yall have to see the benefits im mean really, i love my iphone 4 on verizon as well but im just a phone geek as you see from all the past phone i have had in the last 2 years, but if i were a person that had $199.99 and was choosing between a 16gb MAX iphone 4 or 4s vs. a $199.99 android device with preinstalled 16gb and expandible memory and adobe flash, and great camera and removable battery and cheaper insurance monthly payment of $5.18 deductable of $99 (iphone 9.18 with a $169.00 deducatable if filing a claim) the choice is easy if someone really points out the benefits If you are buying a home and had $199,000 to spend and a real nice looking house is $199,000 and has 3 bedrooms, den living room 2 and a half baths, one car garage, and sitting on half a acre and not to much extra storage space (iphone) then your real estate agents calls and says i have another house for them same price but it has two car garage a frog over garage, unfinished basement, house already furnished with fridge and stove and dish washer sitting on a whole acre and prewired for sound theater and intercom systems for the same price that is a easy buy (android)

Feel better now? I have a Droid X2 (that crashes every day). I'm getting an iPhone for something more reliable. I went through 2 DX's and the DX2 - the Droids with Gingerbread are just plain unreliable. - Want a reliable OS and patch updates that don't take 6 months? DROID CAN'T - Want to sync Google tasks? DROID CAN'T - Want to take good pictures? DROID CAN'T - Want long battery life? DROID CAN'T - Want apps that don't look like crap? DROID CAN'T I have had Droids since the OG, and the OG was a high quality device. Ever since then, they have released crap. Buying an Android device today is like buying a fancy spec house in a ghetto.

Want to be able to type a message on your phone without hitting 5 other letters? IPHONE CANT Want to be able to download music/videos on 4G LTE? IPHONE CANT Want a voice-recognition system that has been around for years before Siri? IPHONE CANT Want the most customizable OS? IPHONE CANT Want to be able to stand out from the crowd at starbucks drinking their lattes while typing on their macbooks thinking they are some kind of famous writer or something or that they are hip and happening when they in actuality just like everyone else there? IPHONE CANT

Cree I love you ! I completely agree with your analysis ! BTW, I am waiting impatiently for the Nexus Prime. Almost considered the Iphone 4s because it's pretty,(yes) despite the small screen. It has a great camera. BUT, Iphone lacks 4G, 4+ inch screen and it's considered just an application launcher. I really don't understand that but I equate that to 14k gold jewelry versus 14k gold plated jewelry.

actually it is generally known that ios has the best onscreen keyboard… umm why wud u want a voice recognition years thats years old? is that a benefit? haha and those people at starbucks cud care les about how they look… they are using productive products to get the job done… why is it such a problem? wud it be better if they showed their android phone to every customer walking in the door? and yes lte wud be nice, but i would much rather hav e a 2 day battery.. maybe not for some people, but that is important to me… and btw cydia already has a plethora of tweaks and sutff to put on the notifications center

without hitting 5 other letters? Stop eating McDonald's food. Unless you are overly obese, it's not hard to hit just 1 button on the iPhone keyboard, even when in portrait mode. Around here no phone can get lte service so I don't give a crap. So what if it's been around longer? Looks like siri is quite a bit better. First doesn't mean it's better. iOS is customizable enough for most people. Just because it's trendy doesn't mean it's bad. Want an OS that has really gotten everything together and has quite a bit of polish? iPhone has had this since iOS 1 (or then called iPhone OS) while Android is still not quite there Want a customizable notification system? iPhone can. Want something that can actually fit in your pocket? iPhone can Want highest resolution on a phone? iPhone can Want a place where there are no viruses in the app store? iPhone can.

My credentials: Former iPad 1&2, Droid 1, Thunderbolt, and now Bionic. I am currently going to the iPhone 4 and not 4S. Giving the 4 to my wife, while I wait patiently for the Nexus Prime. Want a reliable OS and patch updates that don't take 6 months? Everything goes through iTunes. Apple just received OTA updates. I am not a fan of iTunes as adding songs and updating is beyond slow. Now that ICS should be released shortly you will see Android manufacturers taking a different approach on updating their hardware. The Android eco-systems consists of multiple manufacturers and devices. Whereas Apple has 2-3 devices. Big difference in terms of unity. Want to sync Google tasks? Not sure this is a big deal to some people. Gmail is much better on my Android device than Apple. Plus ICS will have a much better UI with side by side tiles. Want to take good pictures? The Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC high end phones take very good photos. The new HTC Sensation will have panoramic mode for wide shot pics. This should be provided to most HTC devices shortly. Outdoor pic vs. pic are very close in terms of overall clarity and picture quality on HTC/Samsung vs. iOS. Low level lighting might be slightly better on iOS. Want long battery life? At least Android took the chance on 4G. Most high end 4G phones on 3G can go for at least 8 hours, similar to the iPhones phone rating. 4G ratings are between 4-7 hours depending each phone. Want apps that don't look like crap? Last time Angry Birds, USA Today, GroupOn, etc....look great to me on my Android. The biggest advantage iOS has are there action games. Android will begin to provide high quality HD games, due to 1280 x 720 resolution. Rendering and smoothness should be close to iOS with the type of SDK kit within ICS. Again the OG was the among the first inception of Android beyond 1.6. Since version 2.0, 2.3 Gingerbread has made leaps and bounds in performance and features. Within the next 6 months there is going to more advancement with Ice Cream Sandwich than any other OS. This analogy of Android having a house in the ghetto is pretty far from the truth. Cree

of course the android batteries arent that good it is a handheld laptop pocket sized.... try unplugging your laptop with its big ass battery as see how long it will be on. people reBUTT with the dumbest stuff lol. you probably splashed water on it somewhere and it acts up now or something, check this out pop the battery out and give it a lil refresh try that on a iphone, when i called customer service about my iphone battery life there was nothing to troubleshoot just sent me replacements i mean getting a new replacement is cool but having to reinstall everything every time is silly and annoying wish iphone at least had more ways of troubleshooting i dont want a replacement everytime something is wrong what happenes when my warranty runs out and i dont have money to upgrade or purchase at retail price

the battery life of the iphone is BETTER, is because it CANNOT run flash, it CANNOT run a more complicated UI, and it CANNOT support widgets etc. Relax bro, the droid is reliable, you probably got a defective one, and the last time I checked, there were defective iphones out there too...

LOL you just made me laugh. U said u had the original droid and thn u went to droid x .. nd thn droid x2.. and now gettin iphone 4? how many upgrades do you have? and if u r buyin full retail price, why didnt you buy the iphone 4 which came before droid x2? You, my friend are just a hater. Iphone 4, has been the most unstable phone i ever seen. Every day i get a customer with an issue or two with different phones ( but android, basic, or blackberry) i could understand, why different manufacturing companies would have problems with android system, prolly the hardware is not optimized, yet. But iphone and IOS has been in market for a while they must have a polished OS, but i still see issues, as i have mentioned in my previous posts, like Iphone blacking out and does not turn on, or the speaker does not work, you can not hear other ppl but they can hear you. lets not bash Android or IPHONE. Find and discuss what could be doned bettter with both parties.

I have news for you, you can stream a movie on the Iphone without purchasing it and you can also create a custom ringtone on the iphone in seconds if you know what you are doing and with ios5 you can use it as a text alert tone as well. I hate when people don't know what they are talking about. The flash memory intigraded in the Iphone is a smarter idea. I can't count how many people have issues with their phones corrupting their memory cards. With Iphone, you will never have that happen. At least you are guranteed that the Iphone will work out of the box.. Not so much with any Android device.

Apparently most people also don't know that it is not a crime to have a preference. Some like Android, some like IOS. I don't know why people get so defensive over a phone. Relax enjoy what you enjoy.

most people don't know that most of it was copied form Android. . . he who cries copycat the loudest is often the real copycat. even the ipad now gets a thumb type keyboard--hope the dev that developed that gets some $$ but s/he probably won't.

Not everything, last time I checked Android didn't have any free messaging service like iMessage. No Android phone has anything close to what iCloud has. Either way, as Hallucinator said, some like iOS, some like Android. Cheers!

every feature on the new iOS5, android indeed has a counterpart but the implementation, stability and the design of these android counterparts make them look like android is running in beta.
