Huawei trolls Samsung and Apple with P20 ad trucks

Huawei trolls Samsung and Apple with P20 ad trucks
Huawei may be in hot water on this side of the pond, but it is still the world's third-largest phone maker after Apple and Samsung, and is taking its direct marketing efforts to the nine overseas. In the UK, for instance, Huawei has embarked on a promo blitz on the cusp of unveiling its latest flagships, the P20 and P20 Pro

They are expected to sport monster camera setups, and the company decided to put ad trucks hinting at those abilities parked directly in front of Samsung or Apple stores. The shutters read "wait" or "be patient" with AI in those words singled out in red letters to hint at the smarts inside the new phones.

In addition to the flatbed ad trucks, boardwalk graffitii have been sprayed in front of those stores, telling all that "A Renaissance" is coming, likely referring to the photographic and artsy portrait effect abilities of the new P20 shooters. In any case, the unveiling is just a few days from now, so we will see what reasoning is behind Huawei's not so humblebrag.

Surely need a competitor to the BIG 2 . Competition is always good for the consumer.

Sure. But not like this. They are literary forcing people to look at their phones by advertising them in their faces. This is awkward and crazy. If you have a good product to sell you will not want to do embossing things like this to promote it. People will check it out and buy it if they are compelling and competitive... With all this controversies around Huawei and National security of these big countries I don't know how Huawei can do this. Either they need to localize all their data servers in each country they intend to do business in or quit being bothered at all. They cannot get a mass market by these silly tactics.

You seriously need help.

Which big countries? US and Canada are screaming murder & mayhem. UK does watch Huawei closely but doesn't consider them a threat (yet). The rest of Europa uses their equipment but does check things like firmware. But they check US equipment like Cisco as well (since Cisco placed backdoors for the NSA).

Not really most of the people buy apple or Samsung just because they are famous. We see solid phones like U11 plus flopping due to no marketing. So nothing to complain about here

Huawei keep growing their market share, but Xiaomi also catch-up really fast.. IIRC xiaomi jump to 4th place in Q4'17 (up from 6th place) with ~100% YoY increase, if they keep growing at that rate, they'll get 3rd place this year.

Those Apple and Samsung store managers should call the police and tell on these indecent obstructive and wacky marketing tactics by Huawei. This level of desperation has lead to their eventual rejection from USA too.

Do you even listen to the stupidity that comes out of your mouth? Last week you were crying about the first amendment, but now you want to ban companies from advertising because they're trolling your favourite company? I do find this campaign stupid simply because they're trolling a phone that they copied, but not because they are putting their ads next to Apple and Samsung stores.

I'm sure the marketing team aware about consequences of obstruction of law. But I think HUAWEI still should fire them because it's doing nothing good for their image.

Apple SHOULD troll Huawei for copying three things from it: 1. The notch. 2. The iOS. 3. The rear camera design. Show the little monkey (That does what it sees) who THE MAN is! G'Day!

Jokes on them though, they're trolling a phone they desperately copied. They're basically giving the iPhone X a free advertising with that notch and back design.

Your all moaning but if it was Samsung or Apple that parked trucks in front of a rivals store you would think it was brilliant. Get a grip people, there's too much butthurt around here and if nothing else it's done it's job and got people talking about them.

I lost all kinds of respect and interest in Huawei after the botched up notch they stole. You literally stole the worse design decision from apple. Ever.

I'm tired of this AI BS, it's not AI to me if it can't actually think, telling my phone to set an alarm is not thinking

They are the Apple of the Android world, restricting compatibility with 3rd party launchers, Android Auto & Android Wear. I have the Mate 10 Pro, and on the face of it, it's a lovely device, but it is so frustrating to use. I recently purchased the LG V30, which by contrast is an absolute dream to use.
