Huawei reveals which of its models will be updated to Android 7.0; two high-end phones are left out
Huawei has released a list revealing which of its models will be receiving the update to Android 7.0 along with EMUI 5.0, which is the manufacturer's user interface. While the beta version of the update has already been received by some Huawei devices, the stable version of the OS will be first disseminated to the Huawei P9 and the Huawei Mate 8 sometime in Q1 of 2017.

The rollout will continue a few weeks later with the Huawei P9 Plus, the Huawei P9 lite, the Huawei Nova and Huawei Nova Plus. You might have noticed that a pair of last year's high-end models do not appear on the list. Unless things change, or this list turns out not to be complete, the Huawei P8 and the Huawei Mate S are not going to receive Android 7.0.

Launched April 1st 2015, the P8 is powered by a home-grown Kirin 935 chipset with an octa-core 2GHz CPU. It features 3GB of RAM with 32GB/64GB/128GB of native storage on board. The Mate S was launched September 15th of 2015 with the Kirin 935 chipset under the hood. 32GB/64GB of internal storage is available.

At first blush, we don't see any reason why these two models shouldn't be updated. A similarly spec'd Motorola DROID Turbo 2 with an octa-core 2GHz CPU, 3GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of native storage will reportedly be updated to Android 7.0.

If you own the Huawei P8 or Huawei Mate S, you might be feeling a little left out right now. Huawei hasn't given any reason for the pair's omission from the list and perhaps there is a chance that this can be reversed.
