In recent years, Huawei has made a habit of releasing three P-series smartphones and it looks like 2019 will be no different thanks to the upcoming Huawei P30 Lite, pictures of which have just been
published in a Chinese certification listing.
A Triple-Camera Setup Without The Premium Price
Design-wise, the Huawei P30 Lite doesn’t differ too much from its premium siblings. The smartphone boasts a large 6.15-inch display paired with slim side bezels, a relatively thick chin, and a small notch. This is coupled with an aluminum frame and a glass rear.
The back of the phone is actually where the biggest changes take place. Due to the smartphone’s lower pricing, Huawei has chosen to maintain the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner rather than replacing it with a newer in-display alternative.
After including dual-camera layouts on the
Huawei P20 Lite and
Mate 20 Lite, the P30 Lite also brings a new triple-camera setup to the table. However, some subtle changes have been made to the configuration.
For one, the Huawei P30 Lite ditches the dual-tone, dual-LED flash in favor of just one single-tone LED. The setup also (unsurprisingly) loses the Time-of-Flight camera seen on
the P30 Pro and no longer features a laser autofocus system.
Further downgrades to the actual camera sensors are to be expected too. Unfortunately, the exact details remain unconfirmed at the moment.
The Huawei P30 Lite Will Probably Undercut The Galaxy S10e
If previous generations are anything to go by, the Huawei P30 Lite will undercut Samsung’s Galaxy S10e by a significant margin. This, however, comes with a few drawbacks.
Rather than using the flagship Kirin 980 like its premium siblings, the P30 Lite is rumored to include Huawei’s less powerful Kirin 710. This will probably be paired with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM and a respectable 64GB of internal storage. A 128GB model is a possibility too.
Completing the package will apparently be Android 9 Pie paired with EMUI 9 and a 3,240mAh battery.
Announcement & Release Date
The Huawei P30 Lite will be announced in Paris on March 26 alongside
the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro. Sales of this model will presumably kick off in early April but a specific date is yet to be confirmed.
