How to monitor your Android smartphone's data use and transfer speed in real time
If you're an owner of an Android device running at least version 4.0 of the platform, then you should be familiar with its data usage tool. Baked right into the system itself, it lets you easily keep track of how much data your smartphone and its apps have consumed over the course of your billing period. But if you need a tool to monitor data activity in real time, and more specifically, to tell you how fast bits are actually being transferred, then you'll need an app built for the purpose. And you know what, we have just the thing. The handful of apps we've picked are made to display upload and download rates for easy monitoring. Take a look!

I just use the native Android data monitoring tool. Works pretty good, based in my experience over the last 2 years.

The best app for me to monitor data usage is Data Usage from triladroid -id.internetspeedmeter It shows daily statistics as all apps described in this article, but also it shows statistics per hour for mobile and wifi internet. Which is very important to me.
