0. phoneArena posted on 26 Jan 2013, 00:20

It is rumor time as the clock ticks us into a weekend after a crazy week that saw Apple and RIM reverse roles and someone with a track record for knowing what is happening inside Apple says that the Apple iPhone 5S will launch in July sporting a 13MP camera; also on the schedule is a version of the Apple iPad mini with a Retina display screen...

really all that is is small upgrades

sorry but when android users slate the iphone for it small updates then praise samsung for the same its very hypocritical

those with the original note didnt see the need to get the note 2 as there wasnt enough there for it.

Well, the 4412 is literally two 4212's stacked on top of each other; that plus the small boost in clock speed doubled performance (sometimes more) when comparing benchmarks. That's a big improvement.

It doubled the RAM, which wasn't really necessary in the first place and effectively made it future proof.

The new S-AMOLED HD panel in the Note II was much ahead of the Note I, when comparing images the Note II's display was sharper than even that of the GS3, despite being about 60 ppi behind it, and that's a major improvement. Source for that;

The fact that LTE wasn't a trade off anymore was a BIG one. You didn't have to give up data speeds (if your area supported it) for power, which was big considering the only LTE solution at the time was the S4, which was notably behind the 1.6 GHz 4412 in benchmarks.

The S-Pen was an obvious one, they quadrupled the sensitivity and that's pretty significant.

The battery was huge as well, literally. At about 30% increase from the previous generation plus the power efficiency of quad core equated to a massive increase in battery life.

That's just hardware. Software was a major factor in the Note II. Touchwiz in the Note I was pretty ugly and was lacking in terms of "Note" features compared to the Nature UX of the Note II. If I had the Note I, I would've gotten the Note II just because of the software.

The Note II was a very significant upgrade, a lot of people who bought the Note I felt a need to get the Note II just because of software, and ended up getting it because of the major improvements in hardware.

So it's a well executed evolution of the device, not a whole new revolutionary project, but sometimes that's all you need. No one should expect that each new successor to a device will have breathtaking technological advancements. The thing (difference) with apple is that when they add a few minor features and make a tiny hardware change, they praise the device as the most amazing, wonderful, sophisticated thing on earth... and in reality it's only a tiny upgrade.

The success of s4 or the dissapointments will determine 5s performance

It is too bad that APPLE rips their customers off with charging 100.00 more for 16 GB extra storage and 200.00 more for 48GB more storage...

He made a good point. He was saying it's too bad Apple's price to memory ratio is off the charts, which has been a long time problem with them. Flash storage costs less than a dollar to the GB (not sure on exact figure), so charging $100 for 16 extra GB is outrageous, and ends up in Apple getting profit more than 7 times over original costs for the 32 GB model, and more than 4 times over for the 64 GB model.

At least on Verizon with the Razr HD and Razr Maxx HD, you get double the storage AND a much larger battery for an extra $100, along with the option to buy a micro SD card.

This was rather fast. Minimal upgrade. And don't mention innovative, you'll be lying... Expect Apple shares to dip further! woohoo!

@chaoticrazor ... That's why Apple don't hesitate to sue Samsung. Copying all the way down to strategy.
