Honor 20 series announcement date revealed; impressive Night Mode hinted at

Typically, Honor has stuck to just one flagship during the first half of each year – last year we saw the Honor 10 and prior to that the brand released the Honor 9 and Honor 8 – but this year the company appears to be preparing two models.

The first device, which should be called the Honor 20, will succeed last year’s Honor 10 directly and should be based on Huawei’s cheapest flagship model. This means that, externally, a large display complete with a notch and razor-thin side bezels is to be expected. Moreover, a triple-camera setup on the rear (with a slightly different design) seems extremely likely too, as does the Kirin 980 on the inside.

The second device, on the other hand, looks set to be a completely new addition dubbed the Honor 20 Pro and is rumored to be based on the Huawei P30 Pro. In this particular case, previous leaks have suggested that it’ll sport an inverted version of the P30 Pro’s camera setup in order to differentiate the two. Similarly, a curved edge display seems highly unlikely due to Honor’s lower prices. Nevertheless, the smartphone will probably retain the Kirin 980 chipset too.

Although the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro will share a number of components with their Huawei counterparts, some key differences are to be expected. More specifically, the camera sensors found on Honor’s devices will probably represent a downgrade in terms of quality.
