There is the Sony Xperia Z5, the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, and the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium. Question for Sony users: does Sony have a root support that is as good as google's (nexus)? ie update without breaking root and without wiping any data, early root ability, Xposedsupport

No one has a root support as good as Nexus. Android was built to be open source for anyone to build on, that's what Nexus is all about. Sony has root support, but it won't be available early if the last 2 editions tell us anything. I had Z3C and Z3 and people didn't have root support for a while. While Sony does provide people with steps to unlock the bootloader of their phones, the DRM keys can be affected when rooting and that means messing up the camera and its irreversible unless you go through some lengthy weird process to get them back. They can be rooted, but I definitely think OEM's like HTC, and Samsung are easier to achieve root and of course, Nexus is the easiest band fastest of all.

I'm just waiting for the internal specs since I'm just going to cover it with bumper case anyway.

When samsung and apple do product launch, PA will put countdown on their homepage. Why can't sony get some loving like that? It adds hits to the webpage viewing right?

Because PA doesn't get paid by Sony. Just look at their reviews.

We don't also get countdown for Oppo, Xiaomi, Micromax, Lenovo, Moto, Asus, ZTE, Huawei etc., Only countdown we get is for Apple, Samsung, LG, HTC etc., They do whatever they can, if Sony holds a big event to launch their phones in US/EMEA, I'm sure the press will be there. Why is that so tough to understand?

My guess is that because Sony is going to unveil their phone on the IFA and not on a separate independent event.

One sexy phone, Sony might not change their design but you can't say they copied it. It always seemed to work for them. Bad optimizations w/hardware and bad cameras is where they need to focus. I also find it scary that their older models don't lose value like every other oem including iPhones after a year... according to eBay, Amazon, and a few carriers.

Agree, they hold better value compares to other manufactures. I think samsung's phone depreciates quite a lot, so does LG. People seems to loose interest with their flagships once its out and owners jumpship to the next flagship quite often. As for sony even with their 6 month cycle, I still see more interest in each flagship like the z2

People lose interest on Samsung phones? Then what has Sony done in the last 4 years that kept people away from buying it? Man some people here just dont know what their talking about or just teenagers lol

I am impressed, the Z5 and compact reminds me of the top of the Slim PS2 charcoal black.

They're following their design language. These look awesome! Like the gray matte back. Is Sony the only maker that doesn't copy others design?

Thats sony design, the minute people pull it out and you will know right away, not like some other android phones just bland. A more classic design always stay longer compare to others, just hope they will reduce the bezel size over time and tweek the small improvements. Really intetested to see the z5c

Agree, I would love to see thin bezels on Z5C like what Sony did with C5 Ultra. Not sure if it would be practical, but would still love to see it :).

Glass back sure is an attention grabber. That's why I only use bumper case for my xperia and that's why samsung used it on their s6 series.
