Here are 6 great iPhone SE alternatives (but none are as compact)

The iPhone SE is quite the unique phone: a 4" modern smartphone these days simply does not exist on Android. None. However, there must be some alternatives?...

But remember that Apple pay began a year before Samsung Pay. So you do not really win.

That's fine, all these companies take it in turns for "firsts" anyway, in the end it benefits all of us users in the long run... Competition is good! My main point was with regard to the quote from the Galaxy S6 part of the article saying Samsung Pay works at many more places, that's a very locality-centric point of view from an international site, it might work for the US (or Korea) but it's not so true for other places. :)

i still dont get it how Sony Xperia z5 is a alternative to iphone SE ... being 4.7 inch it is directly in competition with 6S . just because its name is compact doesnt make it compact.

Agree, phone size with more than 60mm width aren't compact

how they call a 5.5" phone is an alternative to a 4" phone is beyond me.

iPhone SE dimensions can actually fit a 4.5 inch screen.

yeah right,, Z5c is only 3.2mm longer 6.4mm wider compared to iSE, yet it can fit 4.7inch screen

So it's bigger, and has a bigger screen? Great way to make a point... You know what, the Galaxy S7 is only 18.6mm longer and 11mm wider but can fit a 5.1" screen! Do I get a cookie?

iFanatics will not get it. iPhone SE's dimensions can easily fit in a 4.5" without breaking a sweat.

I don't get why this needed the whole Pre Order process for iPhone SE. Its an OLD PHONE with insides taken from an EXISTING PHONE. What was so hard about making it immediately available after the event???

To build Hype....not that it's working, no one wants the damn thing.

That's a shame, I'm sure Apple were expecting to sell a couple of units, you should bookmark this page and come back in 6 months when the figures come out and gloat about how right you were...

Dude, I sell these items on the regular, the existing 6s, 6, and 6 Plus are selling more often than the SE, NO ONE CARES.

Really, do you? Then surely you'd know the SE isn't on sale yet? So it obviously wouldn't be selling as well as the existing, actual, physical stock you have on the shelves that has been available for years. Jesus f-ing Christ there's so much stupid here.

There really is! Since pre-orders usually come in the mother lode for apple devices, and this ones gotten next to none! Even the S7 had a better pre-order launch you inbred butt breather.

No see, don't laugh, because this is just pathetically sad when someone can even take the half a second to google if the items on pre-order now or not....when it has been advertised on multiple wireless providers and has been available for pre-order for nearly 6 hours.

Again, come back in 6 months and see how it's sold, I reckon your "no-one" turns into quite a few million people...

Of how many billion?

As per usual, you guys only argument is sales numbers. McDonald's sells billions of hamburgers a year, would you ever argue that they make the best hamburgers? Lots of companies can sell sh!t. Since technically they all sell sh!t, shouldn't we expect a company with more money, would take the time and effort to make sure their sh!t is actually worth selling in the first place? Apple simply doesn't care because everyone stupidly keeps buying their sh!t. You tell someone, there is a new iPhone, there instant reply is they got to have it. Knowing nothing about what it will do, how much it will cost, or if its even rated as a top device. They just buy like people by cigarettes. Like they are all equally hooked on stupidity. I am not saying no one should buy an iPhone. I am saying people dont even do objective buying anymore. They just buy with no care of whether or not what they are buying is ever a benefit over what they already own.

Ahh but the discussion was about one person saying "No-one will buy this" vs the other party saying "Of course they f**king will!", nothing to do with the product's abilities. With regard to the SE itself, I think it'll actually be a huge seller on its own merit - the size wars took off and arguably went too far with all the phablets flooding the market, companies forgot that many actually just want a decent, top-end sub-5" phone that's manageable in the hand (one hand) and pocket. The SE goes back to that, regardless of the re-used case, it's still a great design and arguably better that the later ones focussing on "thinness" above all else. I tend to think 4.2-4.7" is the sweet spot so this is a little small, the iPhone 6 with bezels and awkward-to-hold thin edge would be better ergonomically at around 4.5". But that said this plugs a newly emerged gap at the smaller end of the market with speed, camera and battery up with the latest high-end phones. The screen resolution that people whine about is largely a non-issue as it's a smaller screen and as long as you don't see pixels, people (Apple users at least) don't care. It's only Fandroids who bang on about being able to see pixels at anything less than 500ppi etc, the rest of the world don't stick their eyeballs on the screen or use microscopes to look at their phones. It's the same with "Pixel-peepers" in photography and all actual photographers hate those guys... So all-in-all you've got a well-specced phone that will be more than enough for many, from the people I know - workmates, friends (and wife) I'd say at least half are still using smaller phones because that's all they want, they aren't tech nerds and just want something small that they can email/web browse on, many still use iPhone 4-5's or Sony's and just a couple of weeks ago my wife said she wants a new phone (she has my old iPhone 5) and this will be perfect for her. This is in the UK, oddly when I've worked away in Asia, where for the most part (generalising) people are a little smaller, they seem to love their massive phones and tend to use them with two hands. It's just local trends and fashions I guess...

As Apple brought back 5s to life and named it SE and ever since 4" phones is kind of irrelevant at least in Android world I think there should other term rather than compact because it's not compact anymore but rather small smartphone in today's standard. 1) ME-micro edition 2) Not on steroids 3) Old fashioned size 4) Can't see nothing on that screen 5) Is it pager? 6) Nice wearable 7) Honey , I shrunk your Iphone ...and so on

This phone is SMALL not compact. A compact phone(exp Sony Z compact line ) is a phone that is small and useful. The iPhone SE was mainly made to steal stupid iSheeps by selling them a recycled phone .
