Health? Desktop notifications? Family sharing? Here are 8 iOS 8 features missing in Android 5.0 Lollipop

Health? Desktop notifications? Family sharing? Here are 8 iOS 8 features missing in Android 5.0 Lollipop
We've shown you how iOS 8 stands up to the new Android 5.0 in terms of missing features. Now we'll do the same from the opposite perspective. Android users can be extremely condescending towards iOS because of all the freedom to customize and extend the operating system that's missing from Apple's platform. But it's hardly surprising that Android too has to catch up to iOS, and in more ways than one at that.

Welp, here's the stuff Google has been sleeping on while it spent time launching Internet balloons and doing other Google-y things. Don't take our roundup as a critique of some kind. Embrace it, because it is the intense competition that's driving both Android and iOS forward to the delight of their users.

Heck this author has like 6 out of 8 wrong. 1. Google fit 2. Install Nova if it doesn't rotate, easy solution. Or heck, Android L does this with my tablet natively. 3. Handoff? Who needs that when using Chrome does all of that via Hangouts and/or GV if you want? And who really has a mac anyhow? Or a Chromebook which does that too? 4. Android expansion pack - plus opengl on Android is already really close to the "metal" anyhow. 5. Implemented in L 6. Not there, would be nice 7. Been there for years with latitude and now G+ 8. Not in standard L, but who really needs that anyhow.

Most are there in WP. The only one I'm really missing is number 8 for my 1520...

Actually they should do an iOS vs Touchwiz comparison, since many features were "borrowed"(apple never steals) by Apple in the past 2 years.

Features there are on android or touchwiz, were already there in jailbroken iOS for years.

I mean, if you want to go there, there have been many features available through rooted ROMs like MIUI and Cyanogen that have been there for years that are just making it into the OS's. To this, we can say that a lot of the real innovation in features comes from Cydia and custom ROMs.

they did, the point here is that missing iOS features are/ will always be missing until Apple implement it. While most missing android features can be replaced by an App, thats the power of open system.

For big features like HealthKit, Family Sharing, and Handoff especially, having built-in support/integration is more powerful than having an app to fake it. There may be apps that allow android users to share location, but not many people know about them and even less are going to download. Biggest "feature" for me is a better App Store with first dibs to popular apps, tons of ios exclusives, and faster fixes and updates. Can't wait 'til developers start updating their apps to support Handoff.

First, I said most (not all). Second, I am a sony user and I have app called lifelog which is similar to healthkit and was released before healthkit. It is not just 3rd party app but it was baked into the system by sony so you get a really good integration, although I don't use it much so I can't comment on this, but I hope you get the point. Regarding the family sharing, chrome has this long time ago although it was limited to the browser, but there are some apps like pushbullet where you can view your notification from any computer and respond to some, and these were available before iOS has them. and the list goes on and on but iOS missing features can't be replaced, not every partially (most if not all of them)

Third party app, such as Airdroid, is nowhere near handoff continuity. The experience is night and day.

This and I swore some of this was in Android already. As for landscape mode...its not tied to just a big phone in Android. 3rd party apps make this possible for any phone its installed on. I get it tho....this is about stock OS vs stock OS, no apps. Out of everything posted....Family Sharing, Guided Access and Metal API are the best ones to me.

And seriously, no reason to anybody be upset/butthurt. Android can do things iOS can't and other way round. Period.

BTW, quite disappointed with your attitude towards a clearly sarcastic post, from your other posts you seem like a fair, good guy but oh well.

Then I owe you an apology, I didn't read it as sarcastic. Guess the real trolls sometimes make it difficult to differentiate between sarcasm and stupidity. I guess I do my nickname justice this one time. So my sincerest apologies for being an asswipe
