Has Microsoft quietly killed off Windows 10 Mobile?

Microsoft's recent release of the Creators update of Windows 10 Mobile is very limited. Only 13 models supporting the platform are able to update to this new variant of Windows 10 Mobile. Of the 13, only 6 are Lumia branded handsets. And now, Microsoft has removed the Upgrade Advisor app that allowed Windows Phone 8.1 handsets to update to Windows 10 Mobile...

These dicks just hate anything they don't like. Instead of just liking all tech, anything they feel sucks vs what they use everyday, they have an issue with. Having said that, Microsoft shot itself in the foot. The Nokia deal was BS. It would have been better for MS to provide a good OS to OEM's just like it did with Windows to begin with. Microsoft laughed at Apple and basically Google, and then when they saw they shouldnt have, it was to late. then they tried to rush with a half baked Windows 7. Windows 7 was just a new UI on top of 6.5. It was slow, buggy, inconsistent and garbage. Windows Phone 8.1 wasn't any better and the hardware it ran on wasnt either. Windows 10 Mobile just plain sucks. The problem with Windows Phone is simple. Microosfr abandon their true mobile platform users. Now that Enterprises allow you to bring whatever phone you wnat and most no longer standardize on Windows Mobile or Blackberry OS, Microsoft just couldnt win. They tried to be more consumer oriented with Windows Phone and that is where they made a mistake. The tile UI was a goos idea. It was different. But it was also boring and uncustomizable, much like iOS. MS should not have ever tired to play Apple's game. Windows Mobile was awesome. All they had to do was bring it up to date. I think MS should drop from mobile. They need to bring a REAL Windows Phone. A portable mobile smartphone running full Windows 10, that you can plug into a display and use as a mini desktop PC. MS should just count their loses and move forward with what works. Move forward with Windows on the desktop, HoloLens, Surface and Xbox. Xbox was a failure for 5 years before it went on top. Xbox is mostly on top because Sony made a slew of mistakes and handed the lead to MS. Apple and Google arent gonna slip that easily.

You're reading this wrong, what they meant is like this " every iPhone 6s that didn't update to iOS 10 for whatever reason will not be allowed to update"

No, any iPhone that's not on 64-bit architecture will be stuck on 10.3.1 for all eternity. Ergo, the 5 and 5C are toast which means Apple is not supporting their older phones like Windows is doing. Which means Apple is dying according to the logic expressed by the author of this click-bait article.

I miss my WP everyday since I moved to Android. MS had a winner, and just couldn't pick a direction. As soon as Nadella took over as CEO, they shifted to a software focus in mobile. I knew it was done soon after. Much like WebOS, I do not think cell phone users totally understand what they gave up by not supporting a 3rd ecosystem. Android and iOS will not be better for being the only two out there, but the consumer has spoken.

Oh, we knew what we had with webOS. It was that a$$hole Leo Apotheker who sank that ship. I mean, 49 days and the Touchpad is killed? Really? The AT&T Pre 3 was never even officially released before the hammer came down. Too bad that hammer didn't land squarely on Leo's head.

I think they should just give it a break till they're ready for a proper phone line release.. They're too iffy about it at the moment

Microsoft without Gates is much worse than Apple without Jobs. They're reckless. They're being rid of W10M so they focus on porting (desktop) Windows 10 to ARM. Guess it will be just another RT and once they figure it's all messed up they will kill it once more. Really, I've never liked Google, think of it as nothing but spyware/malware, but will be switching from my brand new Elite x3 as soon as the Mi MIX 2 is released. By the way my now retired 930 runs the latest insider, slow ring, just like lhe x3. Planned obsolescence of absolutely capable hardware, Lumia 1020 fate repeating itself.

Welcome to the real world. No corperation is perfect! They may have conflicting agenda but the goal is the same maximum profits. W10M fail because Microsoft could not reach that goal fast enough call it short sighted or whatever but it seem they have already made the decision. Google is also not perfect, unless you close both eyes to the way they misuse their influence, they have one of the best tool available to them. Youtubers not inline with their agenda would see their funding get cut. Apple the modern day of tech covenant that seek to control every aspect of the way their user use their apple product to a single goal of generating maximum profit for apple. Not that its wrong or what i prefer to have control of my gadget not the other around.

Me and the wife were looking to purchase the HP Elite X3 w/Doc for $599/ea but with all this indecision on MS part not sure we want to go all in at this point. We thought the price was excellent for what you were getting on the X3. We wanted the 6" flat screen (we have Note 4's) and were willing to move to Win 10 (from Win 7 pro) on all our computers but we're going to wait until there is a coherent strategy in place from MS. If there is a Surface phone in the future then maybe that will be the time to upgrade. Hard to believe MS is not doing better in the mobile space.

What a shame. Windows 10 Mobile is the most satisfying interface to use compared to Android of iOS

At the May 2nd event is the time some tech news and experts should ask CEO Nadella if he is there .Will Microsoft make new Windows smart phones to replace the Lumia line of smart phones that they no longer sell OR will Microsoft just make the windows 10 mobile software but Microsoft will not make any Physical smart phones of it's OWN. you cannot ask M Microsoft VP's Myerson or Panos because it is not their policy to say anything about what Microsoft is developing or will be put on the market for sale .Only Microsoft CEO SatYa Nadella can say whether Microsoft will make their own new Windows 10 mobile smart phones. lets hope he says yes

Microsoft is till making new Windows 10 mobile insider builds to improve the OS they would not do this for a dead operating system. The Question is will Microsoft itself make any new Windows 10 Mobile smart phone to replace the discontinued lumia lline of Windows smart phones or will it just make soft ware for them. Windows smart phone user like myself want to know what Microsoft will do

Microsoft has not stopped making Windows mobile OS improvements as of yet so Microasoft may go back to the Windows phone 7/8 era where Microsoft just made the software and it's OEM partners made the hardware. the question is will many Microsoft OEM's make Windows 10 mobile smart phones
