HTC exec explains why the One M9 carries over industrial design from the M8

If you thought "that's just like the One M8!" when HTC announced the One M9, you are not alone, as the company carried over its stellar machined aluminum unibody design tradition to the new flagship. HTC's industrial design execs Claude Zellweger gave an interview at the MWC expo and explained that they wanted to keep the signature HTC design language, so that everyone recognizes the phone as an HTC flagship device when observing from the side, like Apple does with its bi-annual product design swaps...

I've lost respect for the majority of tech sites out there. The only ones out there that are non-biased are GSM arena and anandtech.

Good thing is now M8 price will get reduced and people can buy M8 for lower prices

The bad news is, HTC will put Snapdragon 615 in the 'next' M8. So, lower price, lowered spec. The more bad news is, S5 now sold for around $500, while M8 still sold for $700.

You are so full of misinformation it isn't even funny. The M8 retails for $500. and has been that price for several weeks now. And to say they will put a SD615 and the "next" M8 is just idiotic. Please stop posting.

Hi, i don't mean to interupt. Humans is getting more hypocritic and self centered lately. Before they said smartphones has no art and good build quality and so does design is dull. But when a company LITERALLY steps up to create a piece of 'art' then Humans decided to smack the company that LITERALLY brings what humans wants.. if you do not wish to pay for the sum they offered please look elsewhere.. better off buying your LOUIS VUITTON accesories and clothings eh? And oh why would you buy a NIKE? ADIDAS? Seriously? You humans should calm down and think..

Ouch. to double the machining time with so little to show for it doesn't seem like a good use of resources. They could have probably matched some of the awesome renders that people have made without adding any cost and made more of an impression than the glossy edge. I like the new texture but not the sharper edge and the gloss doesn't really add enough to be worth 150min of manufacturing time. I'd take a cost reduction over that any day. Or put a fingerprint sensor in the big black bar. There are better ways to spend the money.
