HTC co-founder shopping big at an Apple Store

HTC co-founder shopping big at an Apple Store
Brand loyalty seems to have taken a nose-dive at HTC as co-founder Cher Wang herself seems to have fallen prey to Apple marketing. And she’s not afraid to go on a shopping spree in the nearest Apple Store. The Palo Alto store in California welcomed the chairwoman who came with her husband and checked out with 2 iPads, 2 laptops, 2 Apple TVs, and an Airport Express.

Do you see something missing in that list? Luckily, she didn’t get an iPhone as HTC’s main focus is on phones, but it seems that HTC Flyer that the Taiwanese company released just recently didn’t quite cut it for Mrs. Wang. Or maybe she just wants to check if that Magic Pen, which is sold separately stateside, is magical enough to work on Apple’s tablet?

It is "High Tech Computer". Unless I missed a recent name change. But they did start out making computers in the early days and made the jump to smartphones later on.

A good executive is trying out competitive products all the time. I wonder if any of the items were purchased with a corporate credit card?

A good executive would do it discreetly, not in public where like this photo get sent around and go viral. FIRE HER !!!!

so if you own a restaurant, are you not allowed to eat anywhere else? and how does anyone know she wasn't buying these for someone else as a gift or something?

If it was a gift she could have purchased online. Being the cofounder of HTC she's not dumb. She knows that gifts of Apple products make ot look like she doesn't have confidence in her products. She knew she'd be spotted, she knew what she was doing.

With all the Mobile news- Mango announcements, lawsuits against Amazon & RIM, the parade of new devices on all the carriers from nearly every handset maker and representing nearly every OS as we hit the summer season, THIS is news worthy? A woman SHOPPING? (No offense, all ye of political correctness.)

Oops, sorry snowgator, I was trying to thumbs up you but hit the wrong button. I'm using a Flyer on the way to Atlanta and the plane bumped me. :)

No sweat- my all time low was 6 thumbs down, and I am sure those were very much on purpose. How's the Flyer, might I ask?

Well atleast the things she purchased are something her company doesn't manufacture.

What brand TV should she buy to be loyal to HTC? Sony, Samsung?... And if she bought a PC, would it have something to do with loyalty too? Microsoft make phones too.

Just because someone works for McDonald's does not mean they can't eat at Carl's Jr.

Carl's Jr? You may have to educate me on that one. Apparently, on top of not having 4G, I don't get all the good fast food joints, either.

Actually I had an internship at McDonald's Corp years ago and they gave me hell for bringing Subway to work one day. After that I just ate it at the restaurant or in my car.

Reasons why she doesn't use an Android or WP7 Powered device: Large, bulky and battery consuming. Reason why she got an Icrap: it was shiny

She wanted to show you how she was gonna start being like Apple and encrypt their bootloaders and sign everything so you don't really own a device, they own you.
