Phone of the year went to the HTC One; the Taiwan based manufacturer's Android flagship also won Best Video Camera on a phone, and Best Design...

really HTC One? must be a UK thing. didn't think the phone offered much beyond the DNA but that's just me.

Battery life, build quality, and sound quality. I almost picked one up but needed better battery life and while the aluminum construction is great, it's also very slippery, and covering with a case kinda defeats the purpose.

Why? Because they choose s4 as most innovative device? Lol

all their choices were poor and illogical. i.e. choosing xperia z... and others.

Proud HTC One owner here and yes I support this decision. HTC designed a phone which is decidedly different than the cookie cutter phones that are currently out. The Galaxy Note 3 has great specs and a great screen but the design is meh. The LG Optimus G2 is less good and amazingly laggy. What major carriers in the US and UK are selling the ok Sony and Oppo? Who else had sense to put dual stereo speakers on the front, in a metal shell with an IR blaster? Yep, best phone of 2013

fanboism. fanboism everywhere.
I'm not attached to any brand and no loyal buyer or something but dual speaker like that were available on nokia 5800 and where never praised and now when htc does it and it's a blast! and don't talk about that metal body that can't protect the phone (just watch htc one's drop test)
. and beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I like SGN3 more than most htcs.

Congrats to HTC unfortunately it does not look like it is going to change financial problems. Hopefully people will buy it as it is one of the best android phones still on the market, and shows how well they optimised the software to be virtually lagless!

I own the Tablet Z as well and agree with this award, it rocks in every way possible. I'm giving the Z1 serious thought thanks to the Z tablet, love the design and how well it runs. Z1 looks like a beautiful phone, can't wait for T-Mobile to start carrying it so I can take a look at it as well.

I like the HTC One more than the others phones... I work for a cell carrier and I test many... In America most people think if something is popular is the best... but not always... In the tv the commercials says the iPhone is the best or Samsung the best next thing... And the most people believe it... But the reality is... In the high end smartphones war no one is better than the others... Because the best high end device... Is the one that you need by your needs...
