Why can't manufacturers put the exact same specs on its smaller flagship devices as opposed to making it a mid-end device ? it's not that fucking hard, chips are getting smaller and smaller everyday

Not everyone wants a big display, that means if you don't like them, you are pretty much stuck with mid-end specs, that's disrespectful

2010 : 4 inch
2011 : 4.3 inch
2012 : 4.7 inch
2013 : 5 inch
2014 : 7 inch ?

On the specs issue i do have a theory - it is possible to put in all those high end specs, but there wont be enough space left for a big battery without making the phone thick.

2014 = 7 inch? Samsung already has 8 inch tabs that makes phone calls and making you look like a douche while holding it by your ears during calls.

I think that Sony is agreeing with you. Just take a look at the Xperia Z and ZR. Only differences are a 5inch screen on the Z and a 4.7 inch on the ZR.

I agree with you. More manufacturers need to do this. Big phone's aren't everyone's cup of tea.

Not really 4.7" is a big phone still

I agree with you about high end specs in 4.3" devices. However this is a positive move for 4.3" devices and below if the rumors are correct. Usually it is the camera that is the first to be downgraded. Hopefully this will retain the ultrapixel camera. The specs are pretty good for a mid range device. Call it upper mid-range.

Small display with smaller resolution isn't really a downgrade. Especially considering the battery life boost it will need with the smaller battery. It still has a ppi greater than most phones including the iphone 5 I believe.

I don't mind 16gb that is plenty for me

2gb ram is nice

Just the processor takes a dive but it is still pretty good.

I'm certainly condsidering this one if they launch it quickly and don't leave it too long such that I'd be tempted by the new camera centric phones like the Nokia EOS.

The biggest phones will always have the best specs. #dealwithit

That's not what the Galaxy Mega 6.3 has to offer -_-

Touche. Then I amend my statement. Smaller phones will never have the best specs.

Smaller screen should mean smaller power consumption/battery needs too.

It will probably not cost anything less if only screen size is reduced (or just a small amount), while most of people who choose smaller screens expect to pay much less for the device. So trust me, most people will choose the bigger screen.
And as for One Mini, I don't see any downgrade here except the Soc which is still more than sufficient, that's why I doubt it will be much cheaper than original One

I think you are wrong. I for one will pay top dollar for top specs in a phone sized right for me.

I keep a phone in my front pocket. I know I sound like a jerk saying this but getting in and out of a small sports car with a big phone in your front pocket can be quite uncomfortable.

Let the funny/rude comments begin....

btw, very happy with my Razr M but starting to get gadget envy when I see all these new phones with better specs coming out. I just hope there is a better than mid range phone with a 3.7-4.3 screen in a 6-8 months when I go to upgrade.

well, smaller phones usually use much lower resources (due to the smaller screen, lower resolution, less probability of multitasking, less compatible games with the resolution...)

a small phone with high-end specs won't sell well, HTC can't take the gamble

and HTC should have a mid-range device

i agree completely. i find myself drooling over the beauty and specs of the HTC One, especially considering i've always been an HTC fan. however i'm beginning to resign myself to never having a high end phone again. i mean come on.. at least put the s4pro in the HTC One mini.... i held out for the fireball because it's only a 4" screen... even 4.3" is a little bigger than i'd really like to stick with but i'm being left behind here...

I Like to see Sony Xperia SP Processor and GPU on HTC One mini, coz... with that 1.7Ghz Dual core cpu , Adreno 320 GPU and that to with 2GB RAM it is beast........ But Sony Xperia SP has only 1GB RAM... HTC ONE mini will Rock..
