HTC One Max leaks again, sized up with a 4-incher

New photo of HTC's first phablet effort, the speculated One Max, has leaked out, this time showing a strange contraption on the left side that is said to be a battery cover release switch.

Does that mean we'll have removable battery and eventually a microSD slot? This remains to be seen, but HTC is obviously gearing up for a big marketing push, as it enlisted none other than the best paid Hollywood actor at the moment, Robert Downey Jr, for a publicity stunt video, titled "Big things ahead".

The new pics show the HTC One Max chillaxing with a Motorola XT882 on top, and this one looks to be one 4-incher completely lost amidst the enormous screen diagonal of what will be HTC's largest phone to date.

Those are awfully huge bezels for phones of that size plus with a the 4mp camera & no stylus, I dont think it would have a big chance against Note 3 ! Samsung basically invented this category ! HTC needs to release this device ASAP so that they can gain the first movers advantage and gain few market share !

'looks nice' should not be prioritized over the ease & form factor of the device ! A good design only compliments the product while in long run you will realize size & comfort is much more important especially at 5.5 inch displays !

I don't know why people complain about the bezels. Seriously, they're nothing when you're using the actual phone. If you want one handed operation then go for something else like the iphone5.

I have to disagree, the bezels on this device are among the smallest that I've seen. Yes, the top and bottom of the phone have somewhat of a bezel but you do see that it has front-facing speakers, right? I mean how much more do you think they could've trimmed off in order to keep those there? Also who said it will have a 4 MP camera? Just because the HTC One has a 4 MP camera does not mean this will have one too. There have been no confirmations regarding the camera, so until the actual announcement of the device I would refrain from acting as if you know what the device will come with.

Don't know about you but I see a lot of space, apparently ! You see that entire black region around the top/bottom/sides of the display is a complete waste of space and its only a design deception to make believe the device has thin bezels. HTC One had the same design language with very thick bezels. With regards to 4MP camera, GSMarena did post it might come with 4MP camera: Obviously, at this time the entire device is unannounced by HTC, that doesn't mean we don't believe in any leaks and don't comment at all. I am just speculating on the assumption that these leaks are true which they often are as the history suggests !

There's very little space between the white outer part and the actual screen. I can't wait to hear your opinion of the Galaxy Note III because I am sure it has a similarly thick bezel on the top and bottom as well. Also, before you accuse me of being some fanboy, I am an owner of the original Galaxy Note and loved the device when I used it. Leaks are not always true. There is a pile of evidence that shows otherwise. I would say leaks are about 50% right depending on how close the device is to being announced. For instance, the LG G2 has been leaked several times and we know a lot about the device but there is still some unknowns (such as the amount of RAM on the device. Some are still saying 3GB while others are saying 2GB). Other devices like the Galaxy Note III we have seen several leaks that point to different designs without really knowing which one is the real thing. Yes, leaks can give you an IDEA of what to expect, but we have to always keep things in perspective so as not to assume (I almost assumed the Moto X would be offered at an affordable off-contract price, so I sometimes fall victim to assuming too much from leaks, analysts, and my own opinion). Also, just for your information, you did not speculate. You assumed the device was coming with the 4MP camera: "plus with a the 4mp camera & no stylus, I dont think it would have a big chance against Note 3 !" You did NOT say "IF it comes with a 4MP camera" or suggest otherwise that you were merely speculating.

Well that very explanation works against you then with you. Since HTC has already released a commercial for 'something big is coming' it can be assumed the release date is nearby. Hence by your logic most of the leaks are most likely true if not entirely. Again, it is very likely that Note 3 would support equally thin if not thinner bezel than Galaxy S4. Even in that scenario Note 3 would have thinner bezel than One Maxx Lastly, isn't it kind of obvious that on an article about leak everything will work on speculation ? Do you see every comment beginning with 'IF'? I did not assume I merely responded on reading the news in the article which mentions 'leak' in the title, it is assumed that the comments made on that news will also be a speculation as the news itself. By your logic even I can say how can you be so sure about Note 3's bezel when you mentioned: 'I am sure it has a similarly thick bezel on the top and bottom as well' as you didn't clarify you were speculating there. The thing is, you can be critical or anal about my comment but you completely deterred from the crux of my post. Read the comment in its entirety not with a gun on the shoulder !

No, you misinterpreted my explanation. While I did say the closer you are to an announcement of the device the more likely leaks can give accurate information, I also said that leaks can also give inaccurate or incomplete information as well. That is why I brought up two examples, the LG G2 (which is going to be announced tomorrow) as well as the Galaxy Note III (which is going to be announced in about a month). In both cases, while we do know some information, there is still some to a lot of information we still don't know. I mentioned the amount of RAM in the G2 is still unknown, and that device is being announced tomorrow! The final design of the Note III is still unknown because there are competing leaks that show different design languages. My point was that IN GENERAL leaks are about 50% accurate. So, no my logic is not working against me. You have to do research as well as wait for more information to become available before deciding what information in a certain leak is accurate or not (so you may have to wait for the second or third leak to confirm information found in the first leak and even then you have to err on the side of caution when making assumptions.) That is entirely your opinion. Obviously I did not assume you were speculating which is why I commented and said what I said. You must have never heard or used the phrase "I am sure" before, have you? It implies that the person is thinking in a certain direction but also implies that there can be doubts. It's a way of me saying that I'm confident in my opinion but that it is still just my opinion. But see, we are digressing and getting into a little war over the usage of words. My original comment was directed as a way to make sure that you, and everyone who read your comment, knew that there has been no mention as to whether the HTC One Maxx will have a 4MP camera or not (at least not in any of the leaks I have read, which again is why I challenged you to show otherwise). You could turn out to be right, if so then congratulations. But again, my comment was to ask where you were getting this information and to let you know that there hasn't been really any information, to my knowledge, to suggest what the camera is on the device. I have no hard feelings, I was just responding to your comment. The hostility that came out of it is not a shared one.

Like I already posted in one of my earlier comments I got this news from GSMarena: I know that is not a concrete proof but so is the rest of the news in this article. Only a shot from camera with description of model no and other camera resolution aspects can confirm that. Until then that it doesn't mean that I can't project the success of this product based on that news. My projection is speculative of this news that's all. I didn't meant to go in a verbal and so didn't you (I hope). Lets just agree to disagree on this one.

To myself, it looks like it has just enough bezel to hold it in positions other then when say dialing a number on it. I am looking forward to handling it and seeing what it feels like for myself. Please have a good build like it's eldest sibling.

Holy crap that is HUGE. The HTC One is already too big for a 4.7 inched. This is going to Nokia level of brickness, which loses the whole point of why the Note works.

What? It doesn't seem much bigger than a Note. Which is also huge compared to a phone like that. You act like the One is huge. Yes it's longer than other phones but it's obvious it would be because of the speakers.

In the world of iPhone 5's and 7.9 mm GS4's, every little mm and every gram counts. Especially since pocket ability is being compromised by larger screen sizes. There is a reason why they refuse to add bigger batteries in favour of added thickness, it just won't fly. HTC and Nokia have a difficult time realizing this.

it seems u r living under a rock for the past few months have u heard of lumia 925 ??? 8.5 mm thick and 139 gm (9 grams more than an s4, I am not sure if u have the hands of superman to sense those 9 grams), maybe it hasn't reached the slimness of i5 or its weight but its slimmer and has less weight than i4s so it can not certainly be called a brick :/ educate urself b4 commenting !

Might be due to the removable battery and sd card slot (hopefully...) that they might implement in the HTC Max *FINGERS CROSSED**
