HTC 10 vs iPhone 6s Plus, Galaxy S7, LG G5: low light camera comparison

Any phone can take a decent photo given plentiful light. When light is scarce, however, it takes a quality camera to shoot an image worthy of admiration. This is why our latest camera comparison is a little different. We'll focus on the low light camera performance of the HTC 10 vs iPhone 6s Plus, Galaxy S7, and LG G5...

oh man,lg g5 took great pictures. There sensor might be a generation old but have to give it to lg, their image processing algorithm give other oem a run for their money.

ISO3200 is just way too high for this sensor. It should only be forced into such high sensitivity under extremely low light situations. A quick tweak in the HTC alg to bring shutter speed in line with the other cameras would really help things.

True, I'm sure there will be an update...

As i said LG had a year to play with thats sensor so they have experience to match it with best software. Samsung and htc on the other hand use new hardware they have no experience on it.

""practicing a single trick a thousand times is much better than having thousand tricks but practicing them once"" sorry if it's a bit off topic and deep, but I hope you got the meaning :)

Is it only me who doesn't like pictures taken in low light to look like daylight? I want a camera to capture what I see with my eyes... My Sony Nex camera was great at this, my Fuji X100 is great at this, my Nikon 5100 thinks every picture I take should be bright and in many cases over exposed, so much so that I have to keep exposure dialed back two notches at all times. This brightening effect is what I see from the S7 and G5, I think the S7 takes the "nicest" pictures though. The HTC just needs a software tweak to get the ISO sorted, the hardware looks capable.

I think the comparison is a little unfair .... The htc 10 software is still not final .... i hope after the software update it will show better results than g5 but it will be pretty hard to leave s7 behind

I wasn't expecting this the G5, did really well, the S7 good to, as for the HTC well done, its not the best but its keeping up (kinda).

Is it possible that i´m the only one that hates the 4:3 ratio ? All of them were great for a phone, but only one is 16:9... With such quality from all of them i would pick the 16:9 one, no mater the brand (as long i could root it). Great review !!

So the intresting part of the review i think everyone missed out is that LG still beats Sams**t with last years tech and hardware ... ummm

Yeah and now have a look at their blind comparison they did between S7 and G5... Lol, if it's not a blind test on PA, it's a LG/iPhone fanboy made comparison.

Hahaha, the iPhone 6s Plus getting the same or higher scores than the Galaxy S7 in some photos is just funny. Welcome back to PhoneArena. The level of detail is just so good on the S7, much better than the other phones compared here in most photos.

Exactly, PA being their usual Samsung bashing selves. The S7 destroyed the G5 in their own blind comparison, yet now all of a sudden their opinion is the G5 is better. Pathetic.

Well.. According to the scored LG wins.. Which I am very surprised.. With Samsung beating apple by one comparing and HTC coming last. All I have to say is the iPhobe is holding up pretty great for being a 2015 phone

I was surprised how the score went. I was expecting that s7 will somewhat ahead, due to PA score 9.0 to it. Good work LG though. Phonearena should have include the wide lens of LG aside from the main shooter.

I see a lot of hate here because LG won but the fact is that LG has been making strides and producing great camera tech since the G2. Congrats LG!

Would have been so much better if the P9 and 6P were added to this comparison ;(

No P9 and 6P? Wow, just wow.

Today's flagships can't easily beat last year's iphone 6s. What a shame SAMSUNG, HTC and LG! You cannot fool customers with just one or two features and miss others for next flagship.

IPhone with f2.2 aperture can still compete with other phones having 1.7 as well as 1.8 aperture, also if iPhone comes with f1.8 aperture than I m sure it will win the competition hands down...

iPhone with f/2.2 competes? But this article shows it's inferior to S7 and G5. Read!

Why is the Nexus 6P not included? it still has the best camera imo.

S7 looks to be the best in almost every scene, In the first one LG5 is a joke, just loot at the sky white haze!!.

I would vote for the GS 7 here. However, the other phones are not far behind either.

That's not fair, different ISO and shutter speed, make the same ISO and shutter speed. S7 for me, better detail, you can reduce sharpness in pro mode.
