HTC 10 vs iPhone 6s Plus, Galaxy S7, LG G5: low light camera comparison

Any phone can take a decent photo given plentiful light. When light is scarce, however, it takes a quality camera to shoot an image worthy of admiration. This is why our latest camera comparison is a little different. We'll focus on the low light camera performance of the HTC 10 vs iPhone 6s Plus, Galaxy S7, and LG G5...

V10's camera hardware is same as the G5, but software algorithim is improved in G5. Also, the SD820's ISP (Image Signal Processor) is superior to the ISP in SD808, which also results in better photos than the V10.

Did anyone notice the small acknowledgement at the corner: "Sponsored by LG" ?

All i acknowledge is thats S7 camera need big tweak to software to tone down the crappy over sharpening and colors.

They've already released and update to address the yellow tint, otherwise the colours look fine, in fact it was the HTC 10 getting the colours wrong in the first image. Annoying that they released a phone with this issue again though, the Galaxy S6 also had that for a while.

Not according to other reviews, blind tests and dxomark. You must be so exited you finally found a site that ranks your favourite phone highest. It's not fact though I'm afraid.

I disagree with a lot of your conclusions. I suppose it's differences in taste and what you want to see, and not having been there I can't say how it actually looked. They all did quite well really. I don't like when a camera turns a scene lit with yellow light more blue just because it's trying to compensate and force it to be white. If it was yellow it should look yellow, cooler tones might be more nominal, but not more natural. I see consistently higher shutter speeds and lower ISO from some cameras, that is always going to contribute to less shake and less noise. I rate that very highly. The 10 looked a little soft, but I thought the G5 did better than expected, I'd still give it to the S7 by a little bit though.

Nick, you could turn this into a vote on each scene, with exposure, detail/noise, and white balance as the 3 individual polls for each to see what the readers think.

I don't need it to be a blind test. Most of us know from the image what phone it is simply by aspect ratio, focal length, saturation, sharpening, MP 100% crop etc. There's no way to hide those aspects without resizing the image and unfairly affecting its quality. Plus Nick knew what camera it came from when he did his review. I'd just like to see if the majority of us agree with his conclusions under the same circumstances.

talon95... This is a comparison review, not a poll for voting. If Nick T wants our opinnion about this camera comparison, he'll make poll for it.

The G5's camera is a monster in low light, kinda funny how it lost to the S7 in daylight but beat it in low light, and the camera spes would have you think otherwise.

In daylight the G5 also beat it in most case but only if you dont like over sharpening and over saturated color.

Not according to their own blind comparison or DxOMark.

Brighter but with lots of noise and let detail zoomed in, I wouldn't say it won. But it's a lot better than we expected, I would love to see some older phones thrown into the mix like the LG G4 and Galaxy S6/Note 5.

I wish they add "sponsored by LG Mobile" (-_-) I can't deny LG's camera performance over the others, but still not neutral comparison IMO.

but... it have toprank on DxOmark!!! but if you think again, Z5 also get toprank last year, and its a meh :-/

DxO Mark is biased, not a credible site for photography... The LG G4 was launched last year, in April, but DxO published the review of the G4's camera in September! But DxO published the camera review of the Xperia Z5 even before the Z5 was launched!!!

We must take into consideration that this test was done only at night, the title of the post says it all, let's not blame DxOMark the results provided. Title post PA: HTC 10 vs iPhone 6s Plus, Galaxy S7, LG G5: LOW LIGHT camera comparison.

Still, I won't use DxOmark. They are sometimes spitting crap.

And this is a credible test site?? Lol, who are you kidding. Only good thing about iPhone Arena is their blind comparison when they can't give their own biased opinions.

It was pretty good though. That first pic is what caused it to score below the s7.
