To make the 2018 ballot, the group will need to get 300,000 voter signatures. Dr. Tim Farnum, an anesthesiologist in Denver, is leading the group...

They should rename the Group: P.A.W.S. Because they are looking for anything you hold to swipe it from your hands.

If these people want to be concerned about how others raise their children, maybe they should be concerned about something far more important than cell phone ownership.

That's not how it works and thankfully so. Why would you write that? Governement has to get involved in some cases, because it could end up being a problem for people in the future. Like if you let your kids drink ir smoke for example.

Not sure this is a "group", I think it is just one person, and I don't think it is cell phones, I think it is specific to smart phones.

this is a great idea!! anymore, parents have forgotten how to parent... they discipline their kids by taking away their electronics..... DONT GET THEM THE CRAP IN THE FIRST PLACE!! It causes teens and kids to have a full mental breakdown if their phone stops and they cant snapchat, or if the internet goes down. Doctors know whats up. I guarantee more states will follow suit. Just as cell companies need to put blocks in place when people are driving... I'm sorry but people don't have enough self control to not text and drive... I say, take away their right to do anything but dial 911 while driving 20+mph down the road... they don't need to be doing anything else but ensuring they aren't putting lives at risk.. I vote for more control. keep people sane, keep people safe.

I do understand some of your points, it is still not right for the government to tell me what I can and can't buy my kid.

Well the government has for many years been limiting how you parent. If you hit your child; child abuse. If you allow your child to do things that are not deem safe to your child; they may take your child away from you.

Not sure of your argument here.

I believe we are looking at this in a specific standpoint and not in general for all kids. Rather than see that there may be safety reason, that some may not yet understand, for law/ rule to help you protect your child.

We all know that we are addicted to smart(things). Imagine if it affects us adult in this way how much more it affects children and adolescence.

Chances are you may not need this rule/ law, good for you. But there are many children out there that do not receive enough attention from their parent to realize what is going on with them.

Bullying, predators, social impact, dependent on smart things to entertain may start them off too lazy to find entertainment themselves/ imagination. These are just some reason why (smart phone) may need to be limited with adolescent.

I guess I'm just trying to understand why and what it means for my fam before I start shutting things down.
