Google's Project Fi could soon support OnePlus, Samsung, and iPhones

According to the information, Google’s mobile service will be increasing its range of supported Android devices later on this week to include offerings from the likes of Samsung and OnePlus, in addition to extra models from LG and Motorola. In a rather unexpected move, though, it seems Google is finally willing to open up its service to Apple’s range of iPhone devices, although the exact models that will be compatible remain to be seen.

From the look of things, this information stems from a broken embargo, so an official announcement on the matter is likely just days away. If true, it could be accompanied by a slight rebrand – it was recently reported that Google Fi will replace the current Project Fi name.

Although the expanded compatibility will please those interested in the service, it’s claimed that the “full Project Fi experience” is limited to devices sold through the official store. The details of this remain unclear at the moment but it does suggest that not all compatible devices will be able to switch seamlessly between the T-Mobile and Sprint networks and Wi-Fi.
