Google welcomes Apple into the smartwatch fold with 15 second Android Wear ad
Ahead of the Apple keynote where your attention is most probably focused to right now, Google outed a short and timely advertisement that nibbles at Cupertino's upcoming announcement in praise of Android Wear's qualities. "Round or square. Wear what you want with Android Wear. Be together. Not the same." So, everyone wearing the square Apple Watch will wear the same ol' watch?

We don't think so, Google, as there are enough Apple Watch editions in the making to fill a truck! Anyway, the ad follows after the "Be Together. Not the Same." campaign that introduced Android Lollipop. So, there you go - the Android Wear ad that represents Google's reserved "welcome!" to the Apple Watch.

I don't have to use an Apple Watch to know my Gear S is better. Here let me show you. 1 - Batterylife - My Gear S lasts 2.5 days in a single charge with moderate usage and 2 days with heavy usage. 2 - 2" display is better than 1" 3 - Super AMOLED uses less energy vs LCD. 4 - Gear S is IP67 certified against dust and water.\ 5 - Doesn't require a phone to setup or use any feature 6 - Makes and receives calls because it actually is a phone 7 - Has the following connection capabilities: WiFi, 3G, Bluetooth, GPS 8 - Has the following sensors - Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, heart rate, barometer, UV light 9 - Supports these media formats - - S-Voice natural language commands and dictation - MP3/M4A/AAC/WAV player - Photo/video viewer - Voice memo/dial/command 10 - 299.99 retail starting price 11 - I can make my own watch faces as well and have links on the watch face to my favor app 12 - larger display makes it easier to type and the keyboard support swipe. Now with wha I listed which includes thing you can't do on the APple Watch, do you think I need to use it to know I got a better deal, a better device? After all, if a device is better at just a few things, that doesn't make it better over all. However, you can judge an say something is better when it is, whether you like it or not is not relevant to it being better. Example, I don't own a Camry or a Porsche. But would I be wrong is I say a Porsche is better than a Camry simply because I've never driven one or owned one?

^you are right! Glad you shared the details. Clearly Apple is positioning it self to make people come back for the 2nd and 3rd Gen of the watch because an all day battery that manages to short every day by 6 hours is a farce. Especially since app processing and connectivity is driven by an iPhone.

I'll be keeping my regular watch until they convince me that a smart watch would be useful to me.

What I don't understand is this. Apple and the fans criticized Samsung for the original Gear not being a standalone device. So Samsung fixed that issue with the Gear S, which s 4 models later. Apple watched all the Gears get released, and had time to make a better offering, and what they are offering now, is only slightly better than the original Gear, but seriously is lacking compared to the Gear S. My question is, with all that money, why is the Apple Watch dependent on the phone? Are they saying 4G or 3G for the next model so the fools go upgrade?

Simple. iPhone is the holy cash cow. Its the most important product in the entire Apple product portfolio because every fan needs a phone and its never Apple way to have overlapping feature that remotely resemble a choice so device independent phone calls are never coming to their watch or their iPad for that matters.

Too bad Apple watch will probably out sell any Android watch. Google should stop talking so many sh*t. If they really want to compete with apple they need to put all their resources in. We want a GOOGLE watch not an Android watch from various company. Apple can charge the crazy price because like it or not, their company is worth 10X + of any andriod phone company. Anyone who studied economics will know that the price point is justify by their company brand value.

Watch the video techloverNYC, since when Google talking s**t about Apple watch? And in the forum we just express an opinion. BTW happy buying your Apple watch. I am testing the pebble jet black. Very functional and affordable. I wouldn't be surprised Google are bringing their version of apps to Apple watch.

Apple is only exciting if you hold their stock. As a consumer, if Apple excites you, you are of feeble mind...
