Google releases lighter version of Gmail in the Play Store
For all those Android users who are struggling every time they have to check their email or messages due to low-performance devices, Google is launching lightweight apps that require fewer resources.

Up until now, Google release YouTube, Assistant and Gboard for Android smartphones that pack less than 1GB RAM. The latest app to get the lightweight treatment is Gmail, which has just been released in the Google Play Store.

According to Google, “the Gmail you love” has just got lighter and just as fast. Although the app is meant to run faster and eat less resources, Gmail Go probably misses some features included in the full-fledged version.

You do get multiple account support, 15GB of free storage, anti-spam features and smarter inbox, but that's all that's been confirmed by Google.

Also, it appears that Gmail Go is not yet available for download in all countries. In fact, it's not even compatible with all Android devices, although the list of supported devices might expand in the coming weeks.
