Google exec: "there were some real problems" with Google+ YouTube commenting system launch

0. phoneArena posted on 11 Dec 2013, 17:09

The idea to replace the traditional commenting system with Google+ comments was a very divisive decision by Google. There were many who (loudly) decried the new system as "forcing" users to sign-up for Google+, as well as plenty who were (oddly) mad at having it be more difficult to troll. Google still stands by the decision, but one exec is admitting that "there were some real problems" with the launch...

If am reading right, I think the VP is mentioning the technical difficulties involved in the integration, as opposed to the dissatisfaction of the user base.

Google give the option of using Google+ or the normal account users began with. I don't see this as being overtly intrusive. A little desperate, and something they should have had from the beginning, but not overly intrusive.

The part that griped me was the automatic ticked box to send my comment to my Google+ wall, even when I'm signed into my non-Google+ account. Now I want to give you a beat down Google.

actually they have it now to where if you want to comment on videos or upload new videos, you have to have a google+ setup. They do allow you to have your channel identity separate from personal identity though, and allow you to have a separate Google+ profile for your channel from your personal info if you choose.

I just hate the fact that I cannot really be "anonymous" any more. It always wants me to sign with my Gmail or Google+, therefore I don't comment on videos anymore.

Why would you want to be 'anonymous' unless you're going to say something bad.

Google is all about adds. For adds they need personalized profiles, so they can offer them to companies who wants to pay for adds. The problem is, that Facebook is having those profiles, not Google+. Nobody are using G+ in real. People there are there just because Google forces them to be. This is an evil act. G+ behaves the same way as Shamesung.

Google and Samsung are both evil. No wonder why they like each others (for now. usually two thiefs ends up fighting against each other at the end).
