Google billboard calls for Pixel 2 event to take place October 4th

0. phoneArena posted on 13 Sep 2017, 20:47

A billboard in Boston apparently is the key to determining when the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 will be unveiled. "Ask more of your phone." says the dark ink on the white backdrop of the billboard. Underneath that sentence is the multi-colored "G" for Google logo followed by the date of Oct. 4. You don't need to be a member of Mensa to figure out what this billboard is telling you...

Note 8 and iPhone X.

2 of the most hyped phones in the smartphone world and they BOTH turned out to be extremely underwhelming, period.

While The V30 turned out better than I perceived it and I expect Google Pixel II to be the same!

It's kinda strange but...

Every car journalist love to talk about Ferrari, Lamborghini, Masserati and Rolls Royce while every moto journalist like to talk about Ducati, BMW, Triumph, KTM and MV Agusta but...

The things you see the most on the road are Toyota Corollas and Suzuki Gixxers!

LG and Google are the Toyotas and Suzukis of smartphone world. They just "WORK" without any bling or gimmick.

If the Pixel XL 2 is just as good as the V30 but with stock android, I think it has a chance to be phone of the year. I still think Samsung did enough to take it though.

I am so indecisive right now. I was leaning towards the Pixel 2, then the Moto X4, then the Pixel 2 again, then the Pixel 2 XL.... Right now I have no clue what I'll be getting.

Placing this advert when Apple 8 has been launched, implying that you can expect more is meant to suspend and dilute whatever hype is built to promote Apple products and to get a foot in the door for Google.
But Google has yet to establish the reputation that Apple has placed itself in the minds of the people globally.

"implying that you can expect more", i think is reffering to google assistant integration and has nothing to do with the iphone 8.

I would either use standard headphones with the supplied USB-C to 3.5mm adapter or go Bluetooth. I looked at USB-C headphones, there aren't a wide variety and the ones that are available don't have the greatest reviews. Maybe after all mobile phone OEMs abandon the headphone jack it will force the larger, higher quality headphone OEMs to make USB-C headphones.

However since this trend of removing the headphone jack seems to only affect mobile smartphones, there will still be a lot of headphones with the standard 3.5mm jack being produced. I doubt that flip phones, media players, etc., are going to remove that jack and stick a USB-C jack in it's place. It would cost more and in nearly all cases there would be no benefits to do so.

Let's hope the pixel 2 xl has smaller dimensions than the LG v30 that phone is too wide.

I haven't looked at the V30's dimensions, but the Pixel XL 2 is supposed to be around the same physical size as the Nexus 6p. I believe it will be a little taller, slightly narrower, but with a larger screen.

If their release is before the V30 the V30 is toast. Isn't LG releasing in November or December? Might as well not release it at all.

Are they really releasing it that late? Shouldn't matter though, it's supposedly a fantastic phone. A lot of youtube reviewers like it better than the Note 8. Then again a lot of youtube reviewers hate Samsung for some reason.

The Note 8 gets an unfair reputation for being too much like the GS8+. Which doesn't make sense to be since the GS8+ is still a 2017 phone and was a huge update on the GS7 edge. I mean if you don't knock Apple for the Iphone 7 aka the Iphone 6sss plus you have no business knocking the Note 8.

Maybe Samsung should just cut one of them out completely, maybe then the haters will be happy.

Awesome. The best android flavored phone is on the way. Pixel 2 XL for the win.
