Google Video tested on Nexus S, coming soon to an Android phone near you?
During Google I/O, the Mountain View based company brought out Google Video, an online movie rental service. At the time, Google Video was made available for the Motorola XOOM with Google saying that other devices would receive the service in a matter of weeks, which would take us to the beginning of July.

And sure enough, right on time, the other day Google Video made a fleeting appearance for a while in the Android Market and some eagle eyed observers quickly downloaded the software on to their phones even though it was not yet in working order. Despite that itsy bitsy little fact, this is obviously a good sign for Android users looking for an alternative to Netflix and Blockbuster. After all, who knows the Android platform better, and makes Android apps better than Google?

The UI has a bit of a resemblance to the YouTube client on Android phones, and seems responsive and up to the task at hand. One person with the Acer Iconia A500 updated his tablet to Honycomb 3.1 and installed the app which is running without a problem. While we haven't a clue which Android phones will get first crack at Google Video, it does seem that the video rental service is coming soon to an Android handset near you.
