Google Play Store part of update pushed out starting today for Barnes and Noble Nook HD and HD+

Barnes and Noble, in response to requests from customers, is opening up the Barnes and Noble Nook HD and Barnes and Noble Nook HD+ to allow both slates to include the Google Play Store, and allow users to install popular apps like Gmail, YouTube and Google Maps; all new versions of the tablets sold will include the Google Play Store while an OTA update will roll out to those using the tablets on Wi-Fi starting Friday...

It should have already been there in the first place. No one's buying Nook's tablets, so now they're finally looking for more reasons for consumers to buy.

well this just made the Nook line interesting again. i thought i'd upgrade my Mom from the N7 to the N7 successor but it looks like she may be going back to the Nook experience.

Now if only it was only running Jelly Bean that would be even better.
