Google Photos update adds live albums, new depth editor
The Photos app has just gained a couple of features, Google announced earlier today. Live albums is a new feature that makes it easier for users to share more of their memories from Google Photos.

The latest version of Google Photos enables users to turn any album into a live album. Simply choose the people or pets that you want to see, and Google Photos will now automatically add photos of them to the album.

All live albums can be shared with family and friends. Moreover, you can say things like “Hey Google, show my pictures from Chicago” to see specific pictures included in these live albums. The live albums feature is being rolled out now in a number of countries on Android, iOS and the web.

Another new feature added today will allow Pixel 3 users to make better use of the Top Shot camera function. Top Shot automatically captures alternate shots in HDR+, then recommends the best one, but you'll be able to see these recommendations in the Google Photos app and save the one you want.
Furthermore, Google Photos will now help users to edit their portrait pictures thanks to the new depth editor that allows them to adjust background blur, and even change the focus of the portrait photos. Also, the depth editor enables users to make the subject of their photo pop by leaving them in color while changing the background to black and white.

Google announced that all these new editing features will be available on the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, as well as other phones that support photos such as the Pixel 2 and Motorola smartphones (i.e. Moto G6).
