Google reportedly working on a health and fitness assistant called Google Coach
Google plans to strengthen its presence in the wearables market with a health and fitness assistant that might or might not be called Google Coach. The Mountain View company is working for quite some time on such a product and plans to introduce it when the time is right.

According to AndroidPolice, Google Coach will be more than just an exercise tracker and it will truly help users stay active by using the data Google usually gathers about its users to offer them health and fitness data “proactively.”

As such, Google Coach will be able to recommend users workout routines, alternatives in case they miss a workout, as well as track progress. The fitness assistant will also monitor many other aspects of the user's wellbeing through so-called “conversational notifications,” which are meant to prevent spammy notifications.

Basically, instead of getting three notifications for three different things, you'll only get one informing you about all three wellbeing aspects. Google Coach will be initially rolled out to Wear OS, but it will be functional to some degree on smartphones too. For example, you can monitor suggestions and past data on the smartphone, but if you want live tracking you'll need a Wear OS wearable.

Moreover, Google plans to add Coach to other devices like Android TV and Google Home, but not at launch. There's no ETA for the release of Google Coach yet, but if half these rumors are true, it shapes up to be a great fitness assistant.
