Google Chrome soon to get ability to mute autoplay videos, improved features

Google is expected to introduce new features for Chrome users, as the search giant is already testing a couple of them in the beta channel. Chrome beta version 64 has already been released and those who want to test it will be given the opportunity some of the new features Google plans to bring to all browser users in the coming weeks.

The first thing Google confirmed it will add to Chrome is an improved pop-up blocker, which is meant to prevent sites with abusive experiences from opening new tabs or windows. Apparently, many Chrome users complained some sites include links to third-party websites disguised as play buttons or other site controls and transparent overlays, which capture all clicks and open new tabs or windows.

Hopefully, the new and enhanced pop-up blocker will prevent these websites from taking advantage of end users. You can test this feature now by downloading Chrome beta.

Another interesting new option will allow Chrome users to mute autoplay videos on websites. The bad news is you'll have to do that manually for each website that uses these videos, but once you block a website, all audio content should remain blocked on that domain.

There will probably be some other new features implemented in Chrome 64, but these are among the most important Google is now testing in the beta version.
