Gmail Google Voice extends free calls to US numbers through 2011
Back in August, Gmail launched its in-mail calling service and promised it will be free for calling U.S. and Canadian-based numbers until the end of 2010. Now, “in the spirit of holiday giving and to help people keep in touch in the new year” Google extends the free calling through 2011.

The VoIP service also allows calling other locations for a lower fee than you would get on your carrier, but the free option is valid only for U.S. and Canadian numbers. Just recently, Google added a separate call recording button, which is a welcome addition as the feature was present, but with no dedicated button it was hard to find for many. We certainly appreciate Google's offer – what could be more affordable than free, right?
