Getting closer to Flash for DROID and Nexus One?
Earlier this month, we showed you an official video from Adobe showing how Flash 10.1 will look on the Motorola DROID. Originally, DROID owners were told to expect an upgrade with Adobe Flash to be available in the first half of 2010. Now, Adobe has produced a video showing how Flash will look on the Nexus One and its 1GHz Snapdragon processor. With not one, but two high end Android phones just waiting for Adobe to flick the switch, don't be surprised to see the time frame moved up. Before you know it, you'll be watching all of those animated flash ads that you currently are missing.

OMG! OMG! I'll finally be able to be annoyed by all the flash elements on web pages on my phone just as I am on my pc. Yippee!

Yeah, I would like to know when flash 10.1 will be available for the droid. The reason I bought the droid was because it was supposed to support flash, which the iphone does not. I am really sorry I bought the droid now, and got locked into a 2 year subscription with vzw. The droid is very much a pain to use, since it does not have pinch-zoom. That is sad. But what is even more sad than not being able to talk and surf, is for me - not being able to surf and talk! I rarely receive phone calls; but when I do, I don't expect to stop multimedia multitasking just so I can be locked into a single threaded phone coversation. The average user talks maybe 75 words per minute; but listens at 250 words/minute. Oh, so I must give up my brainspace for a lousy 75 words/minute, when I could be listening to Pandora radio at the same time? Here is a great comeback commercial for vzw - well, you can talk and listen at the same time! The ATT ad is true - I must need 2 phones, if I am on the vzw network, and I don't want my streaming internet threatened by a lousy phone call. So the droid is pretty much banished, hidden in its case, while the iphone is used for surfing, and talking, should I happen to call a link from an internet page. The vzw network will never allow such multitasking, so I am told by customer support. Lucky I still have the iphone on ATT. This reminds me of when the Amiga computer and IBM OS2 were released. Bill Gates questioned - why would anyone want to multitask on the computer, ie why would any Windows 2 user want more than one window up at a time? I guess that is where I am with the droid. When I called vzw, I asked how I could multitask - surf the web wihile talking on the phone. The answer was "It is simple - just press the end button, to end the phone conversation. Then you will be able to surf the web" So I am eagerly awaiting the flash 10.1 support, since that is one thing that droid does that the iphone doesn't. Oh, but droid doesn't, does it?

you can surf the web and talk on the same time if you are in a wifi area. what's the big deal about pinch to zoom? that means you need two hands to use the phone. and shouldn't you actually be listening to the person instead of playing games and such? you can tether for free with the droid by the way.

Hes just one of those idiots, Vzw Fanman. He can use the Dolphin browser to pinch and zoom. And he can call a link from a internet page. I do it all the time. As for the talk and surf shit...who cares. God forbid you cant listen to Pandora and talk at the same time. Anyway ATT can only do so in 3g areas. And we all know how abundant that is. So if you want to compare apples to apples (no pun intended). Your Iphone can talk and surf only in 3g areas and forget about multitasking(non jail break). With your droid you can be Talking on the phone, listening to pandora (as you said) and be downloading multiple apps AND still browse the web all at the same time on wi/fi. Anyways.........

Yes, I am an idiot for purchasing a droid on vzw! That was truly an idotic move. It is just idiotic to play cat and mouse with the pop up zoom buttons on the droid, when I can pinch-zoom anywhere on the iphone screen to target the zoom to a specific point (with one hand vzw fanman, that is the great thing about it). Yes, I can understand the response "who cares" about something you don't have, might not ever have. Who cares? Well, I think many iphone users are just astounded by that commercial. What? You mean some unfortunate souls are so limited by their cell phone provider network, that they cannot surf and talk at the same time? Banish the thought! Those poor souls, they truly don't know what they are missing. That's okay, they will never want for what they cannot have. It is just really funny how much use I get from that pinch-zoom, and surf while talking that are standard on the iphone, while the droid is useless for those 2 very important features. I am constantly using those features when - God forbid, the phone rings on the iphone, and I can actually talk and surf at the same time. I just laugh at the fact that the droid stays well hidden in it's case while I pinch-zoom, talk and surf all at the same time!

Mike I understand your want for pinch zoom... that is what you are used to and that is what you like to use. Just because the droid doesn't have it, doesn't mean its a crappy phone. Just that it may not be the phone for you. You did have 30 days to return the phone, this is enough time to figure this type of stuff out. Just as I may not like how BMW handles, doesn't mean its a crappy car. Just that I personally don't like it. Personally I really like the double tap of droid's zoom. Its easy and 99% of the time zooms to a very readable size. I never talk and surf, I suppose there would be situations where it would be nice but not enough to say the phone is "crappy" or to frustrate me enough to say I need another phone. To each his own... you prefer a device that fits your needs, and I like the droid cause it fits mine.

anyone with even remote observation skills can figure out immediatly that this guy doesn't actually own a Droid. Those are all I-phone fanboy Talking points.

I am not saying the droid is a crappy phone. I bought it to see whether it was worth switching from the iphone. I was really excited about the flash support; until I tried to view anything that requires flash 10. Yes, I know. Who cares. Who will ever care about flash. I don't. I don't need it, I don't care about it. So they could leave that off of the phone, and I am sure no droid user would ever care about it, right. I am just really excited to see how well my droid works with the flash 10 - whether it drains the resources, etc. I am sure the iphone users won't care that the droid does flash 10 anyway. We wil just keep enjoying the little flash placeholders, and who cares anyway. Yes, I could have returned it within 30 days; but I would have missed the flash upgrade, no? This will be a 2 year evaluation then. It's just really funny that the droid (for now) is either one or the other. Either it is a phone while you are on a conversation, without the internet surfing. Or an internet device until you need to stop using the internet cause you gotta make/take a call. Yes, maybe that could change even. Like it is possible if on wi-fi, great. Yes, I like having a phone that does both Phone and internet at the same time. It is really fun. Oh, and about that tethering. I checked it out. Yes it is free; but there is/ are usage caps on it according to the vzw rep that I talked to. Your policy might be stated differently. I get different answers to most questions.

I agree that talking and surfing would be nice. as would multitouch on the native browser. but in the end, those are really the only substantial pros I can think of. I won't start getting into the long list of pros that the droid has, but for someone like yourself who enjoys to multitask- wouldn't you be interesting in a device that can run multiple apps at once? I believe this is the crippling missing feature on the iphone that is also going to be the demise of the ipad.

Didn't AT&T JUST get picture messaging like two weeks ago? LOL. I bet this guy doesn't have a DROID or an iPhone...probably just tryin to stir up dissention while he carries his Treo 650.

If you actually base your purchase on whether a phone has flash or not, you should kill yourself. By the way, I have a DROID, and pinch to zoom is a gimic. I use one hand when I zoom, thats way more productive than using two hands to "pinch" the screen. -_-

Most at&t users didn't even know about talking and browsing the web at the same time until the stupid luke wilson commercials. The droid is a far more superior device to the iphone because the network gives it more freedom, in addition to multitasking involves more than just talking and browsing... I can browse the web, send email, listen to pandora at the same time with my droid, and if a call comes in, it conveniently pauses the music and caches the webpage so I can go back to what I was doing before. How is that such a bad thing?

No, you are an idiot because you don't know about Dolphin Browser that does pinch-to-zoom on the internet and the B&B Gallery that has pinch-to-zoom on your pictures. There is nothing else that you need pinch to zoom on.

First of all Apple and AT&T were promoting the talk and surf when the device first came out. They're even re-airing the commercials now and they have nothing to do with Luke Wilson.

You truly are a fucking moron. Dolphin browser to pinch and it and quit your fucking crying. Talk and surf...find a wi/fi hot spot...They're about as accessible as ATT's 3g coverage. Now SHUT THE FUCK UP!!

i cant stand all you idiots listening to luke wilson.. he is the typical att customer that has no grasp on anything, and think they all know what they are talking about and what works bets. pinch zoom is such a rediculous argument for you not to like the droid, as well as flash support. first off the software will be here very soon if you were on top of your game the droid will have it as well as the nexus one.. its been poasted everywhere so be patient. two the stupid iphone and i pad are going to be so far behind its not even funny... cant wait to see what comes out this year.. ill be watching shows on hulu on my droid while all you luke wilson wanna be swill be watching movies you had to buy at the itunes store. droid does ... iphone ipad and luke wilson dont... (espcially wilson hes as rediculous as atts network quality... )

flash= HUGE add on and HUGE advantage talk and surf = meaningless useless feature for 93% of their subscribers since it requires 3g coverage which is few and far between.

Why do you think we need 3G to talk and surf? I was just on the internet on my Sony Ericsson C905a and made a call to my house phone while i'm not in 3G and continued to browse the web, get your facts straight.
